This Seomyeon gukbap spot, Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap, Seomyeon Jeonpo Café Street Main Branch, has a small interior with real atmosphere. There's 1 table for 4, 2 tables for 2, and plenty of single-person bar tables. It's mostly bar-table seating, so the whole vibe is comfortable for eating alone! And indeed, when I visited, there were a lot of other solo diners too.

I ordered a pretty generous spread. Even with all that, the value was insane. Especially the basic gukbap + suyuk (small) set at 9,900 won — that's really unbeatable value! I switched to spicy for 10,900 won, and even the basic set is fantastic.

How does the level 1 spicy pork gukbap taste?

Spicy pork gukbap. Rice sits in a spicy broth base, topped with a variety of toppings.

Wow, seriously,, this is peak hearty gukbap texture,, piping hot soup with rice soaked through with the spicy broth, and every spoonful brought up a ton of toppings. I also liked that you can choose spice level from 1 to 3.

The charcoal-grilled suyuk (boiled pork) that came with the set. Even in the small size, the portion was generous. Highly recommend it as a side with your gukbap.

Wang-gyoza (large dumplings), 2pcs. This solo gukbap spot in Seomyeon has a variety of sides. The wang-gyoza comes as just 2 pieces at a low price, so it's a great side to order lightly. The frying was crispy and the filling was packed in tight, so I recommend it as a side.

Homemade fried chicken (small). A small size, but the portion was really generous. It comes with mayo sauce too, which makes it even tastier.
