Today I visited Plan A Restaurant, right across from Songdo Beach in Pohang, where you can enjoy tasty Western food with a wide-open sea view.

Opened in November 2015, this Pohang favorite has been loved in the same spot for a full ten years now. The owner-chef, with 20 years of experience, cooks by hand every day and even makes every sauce from scratch — a true local Western restaurant.

Plan A Restaurant is on the 4th floor of the building next to the Songdo Starbucks in Pohang. There's an elevator in the building, so it should be easy for anyone with mobility issues to visit too.

Seating, the Songdo Beach view and going with kids

I liked the clean interior and comfortable floor seating with wide spacing between tables. Great for Pohang group gatherings, family meals, or get-togethers! There's also a baby chair and baby tableware ready, so it's a good spot to visit with kids too.

This ocean-view Pohang restaurant would probably look even prettier in daylight. With that wide-open sea view, it'd be perfect for a date course too! Eat at Plan A Restaurant, take a walk at Songdo Beach afterward, then hit the Starbucks right next door — highly recommend that combo ~~ ^^

You order through the kiosk set up on the table. The menu is really varied and everything looked delicious, so it was hard to decide what to get haha. One strength of Plan A Restaurant is that they have a kids' menu!!! When visiting with a child, parents often end up picking only the non-spicy bits for the kid and never getting to properly eat themselves — but with a menu the kid can actually eat, it should be really convenient.

Spicy chili sauce fried chicken, ₩10,000. This came out first. This thing is seriously a gem!! Absolutely perfect beer food — crispy fried chicken coated generously in a chili sauce that felt a bit spicier than Shin Ramyeon-level heat. Spicy yet sweet-and-salty chicken, seriously delicious!!

How is the shrimp rosé spaghetti, 16,000 won?

The noodles were cooked perfectly and the portion was generous. My first bite felt a little under-seasoned, but this sauce is seriously addictive lol. They must have minced up shrimp into the sauce too — the kind of taste that makes you want to just spoon up the sauce and eat it straight, ugh.

The beef pilaf was our couple's top pick!! The seasoning was exactly right, and the beef was so tender we really enjoyed every bite. Tomatoes, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms — the ingredients were packed in generously, no holding back!!

Plan A Restaurant in one line

The food, the atmosphere, and the service were all satisfying, and I found myself wanting to come back whenever I want good Western food right by the sea. The menu is so varied I feel like I need to come back and work through it lol. Next time, I'm trying the chop steak. Recommend Plan A Restaurant.
