Gimhae Jangyu kalguksu restaurant with kimchi refills: Seosan Dongjuk
In short
Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu is a Korean restaurant on Deokjeong-ro 201beon-gil in Jangyu, Gimhae, specializing in kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) with dongjuk clams. The writer came with her mother, a fellow kalguksu lover, for the ₩9,000 dongjuk clam kalguksu, the ₩15,000 onaksae seafood pancake and a glass of makgeolli, refilling her plate at the self-serve kimchi bar twice. The clam broth at Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu is clean and refreshing rather than heavy, and the thin, crispy seafood pancake dipped in chojang (sweet vinegar chili sauce) is a treat worth coming back for.

Today I'm introducing a Gimhae kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) spot I've visited so many times I've become a regular: Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu.

This place hits exactly my taste in kalguksu, so I love it every time I go. Not long ago, after a full day of playing at Lotte Water Park, we wrapped up the evening here with kalguksu, seafood pancake, and makgeolli — honestly the best. Hearty, warm, and delicious~ This time I visited with my mom, who loves kalguksu just as much as I do ^^
Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu opening hours and Chuseok holiday
Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu is open daily from 10:00 to 21:00, with last order at 20:00. For Chuseok, they stay open as usual through the holiday itself, so keep that in mind.

Parking and inside the restaurant
Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu has its own private parking lot behind the restaurant, with space for up to 16 cars.

Really clean and spacious inside. When you go out to eat and things are messy or the side dish area is cluttered, it kind of ruins the mood — but Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu has staff constantly moving around keeping it spotless. I love that the moment you walk in it feels open and clean, and the self-serve bar is kept so tidy.
There's also a solo-dining zone for eating comfortably by yourself.
Menu and prices at Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu

- Dongjuk kalguksu ₩9,000
- Onaksae seafood pancake ₩15,000
- Dongjuk clam soup ₩12,000
The kalguksu and pancake come out generously loaded with noodles and seafood, and the price is reasonable. I haven't tried the clam soup yet, but it's the dish I want to have with soju in the evening haha

This Gimhae kalguksu spot, Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu, also does takeout.

Chili level and eating out with kids
The kalguksu comes with cheongyang chili peppers by default, but you can ask for it without or with extra. I kept it standard and added minced chili from the self-serve bar when I wanted more heat. If you're visiting with a kid, you can order two bowls split into with-chili and without-chili. Whenever I visit with Nunu, they always bring out kids' dishware, seaweed, and rice for her~ The rice here is free too! The noodle portion is generous, but if it's not enough, just add a bowl of rice!
Self-serve kimchi bar and makgeolli by the glass

One of Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu's charms is the kimchi. It's genuinely delicious, so I scooped a big portion from the self-serve bar early on... and then went back for more ^^ Even though kimchi is available at the self-serve bar, the staff still kindly walk around with kimchi asking if you need more side dishes.
For a glass of makgeolli, the staff bring over a kettle and pour it for you. I asked for a moderate amount, but they filled it right to the brim without holding back haha. At this rate isn't it less a glass and more a whole bottle lol. I'm into it though... thank you ^^
This makgeolli is unbelievably crisp and cold. It was so refreshing and tasty I gulped it down and got a little tipsy ^^ Still, it goes so well with the seafood pancake and kalguksu that you have to order it.
Dongjuk clam kalguksu, ₩9,000 — how is the broth?

Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu, loaded with dongjuk (clams) for a deep, refreshing broth

The noodles are chewy, and the crown daisy garnish on top makes each bite even more fragrant. I knew my mom would love it! If I had a friend who loved kalguksu, I'd want to bring them here~

Loaded generously with clams, it looks appetizing from the start, and the broth is light and clean without being harsh.

The savory depth drawn out from the clams is no joke. The warm broth is so soothing. Eating the noodles together with the broth, you get the plain wheat-noodle flavor layered with the clam's refreshing taste, and you just keep eating without stopping~
Onaksae seafood pancake, ₩15,000

A seafood pancake really loaded with squid, octopus, and shrimp (o-nak-sae)

Not a thick pancake but a thin one, fried so the edges get extra crispy — this onaksae seafood pancake. The thin batter is cooked perfectly crisp, and the green onions plus the seafood's moist richness fill your mouth.

The seafood piled generously on top never seems to run out no matter how much you eat, making for such a happy meal with a glass of makgeolli~ The thin, crispy pancake is delicious dipped in soy sauce, but dipping it in chojang makes it an absolute delicacy!!

Dongjuk kalguksu, seafood pancake, and kimchi — all so delicious at this Gimhae kalguksu spot, Seosan Dongjuk Kalguksu. You really have to go here!
