Seongsu café on a weekend evening: pistachio choux at T Coffee

There are those weekend evenings when work just won't happen at home. I needed a change of scenery, so I headed out alone with my laptop. My destination was T Coffee in Seongsu-dong. It's on the basement level, which gives it that feel of a Seongsu café only insiders know about. It's about a 5-minute walk from Seongsu Station Exit 2, so it wasn't hard to get to either.

Inside T Coffee: wood-tone tables, brick floors and quiet seats for focus

Walking into T Coffee, the first things that catch your eye are the wood-tone tables and chairs and the brick-patterned floor.

A stainless steel bar counter sits at the center of the space, with seating split in front and behind it, so each spot feels a little different. Behind the stainless counter, a barista was quietly preparing drinks.

Inside the bar, grinders and espresso machines were neatly arranged, and the cups and plates were sorted tidily by type. Maybe it's because I have a bit of an obsession — not really an obsession, haha — with tidiness, but seeing that order weirdly made me happy.

Small framed art pieces with numbers and shapes hung on the wall, giving the space a bit of a mini-gallery feel.

There was a couple quietly chatting on the red bench seating too. If you're looking for a quiet café in Seongsu, this place would be a perfect fit!

Pistachio choux, lemon sablé cookie sandwich and matcha latte at T Coffee

The dessert case at T Coffee had about four items on display: a sand cookie, a choco biscuit, a choux dessert, and a cheesecake.

Among these, I ordered the pistachio choux dessert, the lemon sablé cookie sandwich, and a matcha latte.

The pistachio choux has a cloud-soft, fluffy choux shell generously filled with pistachio cream.

One bite of the cream and the deep, genuine pistachio flavor comes through quite strongly — soft but slightly dense, so it's neither too light nor too heavy.

The lemon sablé cookie sandwich was a different kind of dessert altogether from the pistachio choux.

The cookie isn't so much crunchy as it is soft and crumbly, melting away the moment it hits your mouth. Eaten together with the cream inside, the lemon aroma spreads subtly and pairs really well.

The matcha latte had a high milk ratio, so the smooth milkiness came through before the usual bitterness of matcha.

It paired nicely with the two desserts overall.

I opened my laptop right there and got some work done. It was a weekend evening that could easily have slipped away doing nothing, but finishing what I needed to do felt pretty satisfying.

I visited around 6:30pm on a weekend evening and was able to sit right down without any wait. Since closing time is 20:00, being closer to the end of the day actually seemed to make things more relaxed.

There's no dedicated parking at this café, so if you're driving, I'd recommend checking a nearby paid parking lot in advance.
