Bucheon Korean BBQ: frozen pork belly set at Sundoli Sikdang

Friday night, did everyone eat well!!? I ate well!!!! haha I really agonized over the menu... lunch wasn't great, you know 🤔 So dinner had to succeed, and the fail-proof choice was frozen pork belly (naengsam)! 🥓 It's a 10-minute bus ride from home, so I hopped right over ❤️

I visited around 6:40pm and there were already a lot of people eating!!! The crowd was a mix of friends, families, and couples!! Feels like a true Bucheon pork belly hotspot right?😳

Aside from the Korean-made kimchi, Sundoli makes everything else themselves!!! 😃

Here's the country-of-origin sign! The crab in the marinated crab is from Yeonpyeong-do, apparently really good quality! Nice to see it's domestic, gives me confidence.

Regional soju and drinks, the pride of Sundoli Sikdang

What Sundoli is proudest of, above all, is the drinks variety. From various sodas to Bongbong, sikhye (sweet rice drink), even Pororo Bundaberg!? 😳 But the liquor lineup is even more wild — you can drink each region's representative soju right here in Gyeonggi-do!!? haha Daesun, Busan Gallmegi, Hallasan, Cheongchun, Chamsoju, and more!! So many options 👍

The menu and what comes in the 39,800 won Sooni Set

From set menus🍖 to grilled garnish sets, single-order meat🥓, and side dishes🍲 — the set menu had the best value by far, couldn't skip it!! Ordered the Sooni Set at ₩39,800!!

It really came out looking just as pretty as the menu photo!!! 😍 At the top, soy crab, bean sprouts, kimchi, bracken, green onion kimchi!! Plus garlic and ssamjang in the back ~ and the pork belly for three didn't look skimpy at all!

Looking at it again, it was plated so beautifully ❤️ Side dishes are refillable on request! The crab is a separate paid order though ~ apparently that crab is THAT good..🦀

The wrap greens were also in great condition ~ and the shredded green onion is a must too ❤️

And this dipping sauce is a real treat too 😃 It's chamsoju-based, made by the owner, and it really brought out the flavor of the meat! And of course, the pepper that's a must at any pork belly place haha!!👍

Now, mukbang time begins!! You grill the bean sprouts, kimchi, and bracken together with the pork belly!! The smell alone was already driving me crazy.. everyone knows this feeling right!!?🤤

Ohhhhhh!!!!!😭😭😭😭 The most impressive food of the week, hands down haha. Frozen pork belly's best part is how fast it cooks 👍

Then the alcohol came out right away.. couldn't hold back. I also know how to make a whirlpool with soju. Everyone worked hard this week too...🤤🍺 [gulp gulp] Sorry, went off on a tangent there ..hahahaha

The stew here was also really delicious. Maybe because of the clams and radish, it tasted refreshing like a seafood doenjang stew!! Meat really does need a stew ❤️

It also went so well with the green onion kimchi, and wrapped up in a lettuce leaf... the person next to me could've fainted and I wouldn't have noticed.

Also ordered Busan Gallmegi soju, which I'd never tried since I've never been to Busan! Wow.. it felt like I was in Busan haha. Cleanest tasting soju of the bunch!!

To finish, of course it's K-fried rice.. Instead of mixing the leftover kimchi, bean sprouts, bracken, and meat at the table, they toss it all together in the kitchen and bring it out, then lay it out beautifully on the grill haha!🍚

Ahh..🤤 see you again soon, K-rice❤️🍚 Fried rice at a BBQ place never fails, you know that right..!?😭👍

Homemade marinated blue crab: don't put it on the grill

Oh and this marinated crab is seriously the best... I mentioned earlier that the owner makes it herself, but the meat inside is super full and this sauce is the real kicker 👍

I heard grilling it on the grill tastes good so I tried it — XXXXXXX please never do this XXXXXXX just eating it as is is 5 million times better. All that delicious marinade flavor just dies.. so sad.. haha

Is Sundoli Sikdang in Bucheon worth a visit?

I'll admit it — this is a legit Bucheon pork belly spot 👍 And I'll admit the marinated crab too 👍 The pretty plating, plus the impressive range of drinks and liquor ☺️ Easy to reach by public transit or car too👍
