Shopping at the Busan Premium Outlets, you end up quietly looking for a place to have a proper meal, haha. That's Bueokgan, the Western-style restaurant inside Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets. At first I figured it was just an outlet food-court kind of place, but once I stepped in the atmosphere was actually pretty nice, and you can enjoy everything from steak to pasta to pizza in one sitting — good for a family meal too.

Inside an outlet, but with a surprisingly nice atmosphere

We ordered the family set, which lets you try several menu items, for 99,000 won.

The entrance itself already felt a bit special. The brick and arched exterior paired with the green signboard made it feel more like a standalone restaurant than a typical outlet eatery. Step inside and the mood shifts again — wooden tables and chairs, vintage lighting and mirrors.

Framed pictures and plants are placed here and there on the walls. Rather than the flashy interiors that are trendy these days, it had a slightly retro, cozy feel like a European home. The place itself is fairly spacious and there are baby chairs ready, so it looked good for visiting with kids or having a family meal.

The family set is a good call if there are several of you

What we chose was the 99,000 won family set.

Bueokgan's family set fully laid out

It was a spread that let us try a bit of everything at one table — sweet pumpkin soup, carbonara, a 200g Bueokgan tenderloin steak, and pepperoni pizza. When you want pizza but also don't want to give up pasta and steak, this kind of set is pretty great.

The pre-meal sweet pumpkin soup, better than I expected

First up was the sweet pumpkin soup.

Sweet pumpkin soup served before the meal

One spoonful and the sweetness of the pumpkin combined with the creaminess gave it a 'Western-style pumpkin porridge' kind of feel to me. It was very smooth and not at all overpowering, so warming up my stomach before the real meal started felt nice too. A perfectly light dish to have before the mains arrived.

Juicy tenderloin steak and grilled cabbage

This was the steak I liked most out of this whole meal.

Plate of Bueokgan's 200g tenderloin steak

It was cooked medium-rare, and cutting into it the juices were clearly still there, with that distinct savory tenderloin flavor coming through in every bite. But the real surprise was something else entirely — the big piece of grilled cabbage served right next to it! Just grilling the cabbage like that added a smoky char and brought out the vegetable's natural sweetness, giving it surprisingly good flavor.

Large grilled cabbage served alongside the steak

Eating it together with the steak didn't feel heavy at all, and it sat easy on the stomach, which I really liked. Honestly, eating it made me think, 'I should try making this at home sometime.'

Chewy cheese on the pepperoni pizza

As you can tell from the photo, the pepperoni pizza has a generous amount of pepperoni piled on.

What I especially liked was the cheese. It stretched in that satisfying chewy way, savory with the salty punch of the pepperoni layered on top — pretty much the classic pepperoni pizza flavor you picture in your head. If you prefer a style focused on pepperoni and cheese rather than a pizza piled with all sorts of toppings, this one should suit you well.

Carbonara that wasn't heavy — extra mushroom for a nice earthy note

Cream pasta can go wrong and get heavy after just a few bites if you're not careful.

Bueokgan's carbonara wasn't as heavy as I expected. The cream sauce wasn't too rich or thick, staying reasonably creamy, and the noodles kept a nice springy texture. The balance between sauce and noodles was good enough that I could finish it without feeling weighed down, and the portion was generous enough to be a full meal on its own.

Even the orange juice was surprisingly refreshing

The orange juice we chose as our drink was more impressive than I expected too. Rather than tasting just plain sweet like the usual bottled orange juice, it had a refreshing quality where you could actually taste the orange pulp a bit more. Sipping it between bites of steak, pizza, and cream pasta helped cleanse my palate, and it went well with the food.

If you want to have a proper meal at the Busan Premium Outlets. A quick bite while shopping is fine, but sometimes you want to sit down and eat properly at a leisurely pace, right? Bueokgan lets you enjoy steak, pizza, and pasta all together at one table, and the relaxed atmosphere made it a decent spot for a family meal.

What stuck with me most was the juicy tenderloin steak and the grilled cabbage. The grilled cabbage seemed like nothing special, but it paired so well with the steak that I really want to try recreating it at home. If you're shopping at the Busan Premium Outlets and craving pasta, pizza, or steak, put Bueokgan, the Western-style restaurant on the NORTH side, on your list of meal options.

Bueokgan, a solid restaurant at the Busan Shinsegae Simon Outlets — a place where the steak was really good.
