Family lunch with parents at Dongam Tteokgalbi, a Gijang restaurant
In short
Dongam Tteokgalbi is a tteokgalbi (grilled rice cake patty) set-meal restaurant on the 3rd floor of a building right in front of Lotte Outlet Gijang in Busan. A family of four ordered the Dongam Tteokgalbi set (₩15,000 per person) and loaded up at the self-serve side dish bar with black soybean tofu, stir-fried kimchi, seasoned squid, tteokbokki, fried rice and jjajang sauce, alongside a crab doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and generous slices of tteokgalbi. The seasoning stayed light throughout, so even overeating didn't feel heavy — a solid pick for a lunch out with parents.

Today I went for lunch at Dongam Tteokgalbi, a Gijang restaurant. It's a set-meal place where you can eat really well and get full — I go here often with my parents, so let me introduce it!

Right in front of Lotte Outlet Gijang — what about parking and seating?
Dongam Tteokgalbi for lunch in Gijang. It's right in front of Lotte Outlet, so if you're looking for a restaurant nearby, this is the spot. It's already word-of-mouth famous for being hearty and good value, so parking can get tough during peak hours haha. But the building has a big parking lot, so parking itself is easy.
The spacious interior has a lot of tables. Great for groups or a family meal out. The tables themselves are big too — the left-side seats can fit up to 6 people. If you're visiting with a baby, there are baby chairs too.
The side dish self-bar is basically a Korean buffet
A huge advantage of Dongam Tteokgalbi in Gijang: just look at the number of side dishes. It's buffet-style, so you can take as much as you want.
There are some dishes served as default sides and others that aren't, so you can go grab whatever extra side dishes you need. The staff kept restocking things whenever they ran low, so it never felt empty~
There's rice and seaweed soup too. I liked that rice was just there at the self-bar instead of charging extra for a refill.

Black soybean tofu and stir-fried kimchi. These aren't store-bought sides — they're handmade fresh every day, which makes Dongam Tteokgalbi in Gijang an even better lunch pick.

Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), stir-fried sausage and vegetables, fried rice. The seasoning isn't salty, just right — it feels like eating home-cooked food.

Stir-fried squid, jjajang sauce, and even steamed egg.
Just order a main dish and you get access to this whole self-bar. It's basically a Korean buffet, wow. If you're looking for a place to eat near Gijang, around Lotte Outlet Gijang — go check it out!

Dongam Tteokgalbi set, ₩15,000 per person, ordered for 4
The menu prices for Dongam Tteokgalbi, my lunch pick in Gijang. We ordered the Dongam Tteokgalbi set for 4 people. The price is so reasonable and the taste is top-notch too!

The food also came out fast, which made it even better. Look at how many side dishes there are — this is a tteokgalbi set meal, but it puts other full Korean-course restaurants to shame!! With this many side dishes and tteokgalbi included, it's only ₩15,000 per person. Such a good place to bring your parents to eat!!
These are the default sides that come with the meal. They're plated so neatly it makes them look even tastier. None of them are seasoned too strong, so it really does feel like home cooking?! If you like mild, light seasoning like I do, you'll enjoy this a lot.

Extra side dishes we grabbed — dad went for the seasoned squid
These are the extra side dishes we went back for. So many options, and all delicious ㅠ_ㅠ Especially the seasoned squid and stir-fried squid. My dad, who loves squid, really enjoyed those.

This tteokgalbi set even comes with a doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) packed full of crab. Dongam Tteokgalbi for lunch in Gijang is really something else, right?

How was the main tteokgalbi?
The main dish, tteokgalbi. It's a good big size with a nice texture, which makes it even tastier. It's juicy too, not dry at all. With such a large portion of tteokgalbi, I felt really full. No gamey smell or off flavor at all!!
I like eating it with green onion kimchi, so I ate my share of tteokgalbi happily. I usually can't eat much, but I completely overate this time! Normally overeating even a little upsets my stomach, but maybe because everything at Dongam Tteokgalbi is homemade, my stomach didn't feel heavy or bloated at all.
You have to try the fried rice with jjajang sauce... it's seriously so good haha. Even when I was full, I kept eating more.
Dessert was also nicely prepared at this restaurant near Lotte Outlet Gijang, Dongam Tteokgalbi. If you're looking for lunch in Gijang, definitely come here with your parents at least once!
