Late lunch with three dishes at Gijang outlet restaurant: Bueokgan

I went shopping at Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets a while back, and after wandering around for a good while, I realized lunchtime had long passed and I was starving haha.

While looking for somewhere to grab a late lunch inside the outlet, I ended up at Bueokgan Restaurant, a well-known Western-style spot in Gijang.

I visited during a late lunch slot, but people kept coming in as I ate. It's in a great spot for a meal break mid-shopping, so it seems like a solid pick for anyone browsing the outlet like we were and looking for lunch.

What's the inside of Bueokgan Restaurant at the Busan Premium Outlets like?

There was a sofa waiting area set up out front in case you need to wait.

Once inside, the space was bigger and cleaner than I expected.

The seating had decent spacing and there were various table setups available.

There were also group tables for several people, which made it look like a good option not just for a shopping-break meal but as a family restaurant to visit together. We went during a late lunch slot, but by the time we were eating, it had gotten busy. It definitely seemed like a place people head to for meals at the outlet.

The three dishes we ordered

The table settings were already laid out.

We ordered three dishes — pastry soup, truffle mushroom cream gnocchi, and kung pao chicken pilaf! Portions were generally hearty across the board, so once everything arrived, the table was packed haha.

Pastry soup

The pastry soup caught my eye from the visual alone! It's Bueokgan's signature dish — warm sweet pumpkin soup topped with a pastry crust.

Eating the pastry on its own gives you that crispy texture first, but dipping it fully into the soup completely changes the experience.

The crispy pastry turns soft once it soaks up the pumpkin soup, almost melting in your mouth! I'd recommend trying it plain first, then dipping it fully into the soup.

Truffle mushroom cream gnocchi

You could smell the truffle the moment it arrived, and one bite let the truffle aroma spread gently through your mouth. The cream leaned thick rather than watery, so the sauce properly coated the gnocchi.

I liked that it wasn't just one type of mushroom — there was a mix of different varieties. Eating the soft potato gnocchi together with the mushrooms added a chewy texture to the softness, making it fun to eat.

I liked it best when I loaded gnocchi and mushroom onto the same spoonful. If you're into thick cream dishes, this one's worth checking out.

Kung pao chicken pilaf

Of the three dishes, the kung pao chicken pilaf suited my taste the most.

It had a slight spicy kick, so after the rich, thick cream gnocchi, one bite of the pilaf really woke my appetite back up.

Most of all, I liked the chicken on top. It wasn't tough at all — very tender, and went great with the rice.

Since the meat was so tender, it came off the bone easily and was simple to eat.

A spoonful of pilaf with chicken together works really well — the slightly spicy rice paired nicely with the tender chicken. Personally, the kung pao chicken pilaf is something I'd order again if I came back haha.

A solid lunch stop at Shinsegae Busan Premium Outlets

We stopped in for a late lunch during shopping, and with generous portions overall and each of the three dishes having a distinct character, I left satisfied.

The space is spacious with everything from regular seating to group tables, so it looked like a solid choice for a couple's date as well as a family restaurant visit.
