Men's Ivy League cut with a down perm at Momentium, a Daegu hair salon
In short
Momentium is a hair salon in Manchon-dong, Suseong-gu, Daegu, a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Manchon Station. A month after the last Ivy League cut, the sides were flipping up and the lines looked messy, so this visit at Momentium paired a fresh cut with a down perm that took only 15 minutes and pressed the sides and top flat for easier styling. For short men's hair with flyaway sides, getting the cut and the down perm together is the better call.

Today I visited Momentium, a hair salon in Manchon-dong, Daegu, because the Ivy League cut I got last time had turned into a mess after just a month. Ivy League cuts look clean right after the first cut since it's short, but as it grows out the sides get longer and start flipping up, and even the line I had set at first starts looking weird — it was seriously stressing me out.
This time I wanted to tame the flyaway sides even as the hair grows, and make styling easier, so I got the Ivy League cut done together with a down perm. Thanks to the down perm, upkeep got easier and I loved the style too, so let me introduce Momentium, a salon that's great with men's hair.

What the Momentium salon feels like inside
The interior was clean and bright overall, so I felt at ease the moment I walked in. The waiting chairs were comfortable too, and the high ceilings and full-height windows made the space feel bigger and never cramped.

A month-old Ivy League cut: why add a down perm?
This is the before photo. It had only been a month since my last cut, but the shagginess and stray hairs sticking out everywhere made it look messy. I tried managing the line with a razor and pressing down the sides myself, but I just couldn't keep it neat, so after talking it over with the director, I decided to get a down perm along with the Ivy League cut.

Matching sideburn length on both sides and the forehead line
The cut and lines were done carefully to match what I wanted. My sideburns tend to be long, and a lot of places cut them uneven on each side, but here both sides came out perfectly matched. My forehead line also tends to be all over the place normally, so I appreciated how naturally it was trimmed.

While cutting my bangs, they put a cover on so hair wouldn't get into my eyes — another sign of how thoughtful Momentium is.

A 15-minute down perm: sides pressed down, bangs left slightly lifted
Here's the down perm in progress after the cut. True to the Ivy League cut style, the sides were pressed down calmly while the bangs were permed to lift slightly. Since my hair is short, the perm was done in just 15 minutes — I loved not having to wait long.

A massage chair at the shampoo station
After the perm was done, I moved to get my hair washed. I sat in the chair on the right, and I was surprised when it reclined and started massaging my back. I love massages, so getting one while my hair was being washed felt so relaxing. It felt so good I wanted to lie there longer, but since my hair is short, it ended too soon — a shame. It was also the first time I'd seen a shampoo chair that doubles as a massage chair.

The finished Ivy League cut and down perm: before and after
Here's the finished Ivy League cut and down perm. It came out exactly the style I had in mind — the top and sides pressed down naturally and calmly, and the bangs lifted slightly as an Ivy League cut should, which was exactly what I wanted. The lines on the sides and back were also cut cleanly, which I loved.

Comparing the before and after photos, I'm glad I got the down perm done together. With the sides and top pressed down, styling should be much easier, and I'm hopeful it'll stay this neat even as my hair grows out longer.

I'm attaching the director's business card and Momentium's price list too, so if you have a style in mind or want some advice, feel free to reach out.
