Signature photo of Sarangjip's pork kimchi grill

I heard there was a pork kimchi grill restaurant near Ajou University famous for great value and great taste, so I went to check it out! It's a lunch spot in Uman-dong called Sarangjip (사랑집), where you can enjoy their single-menu pork kimchi grill at a very reasonable price. It genuinely tasted like the homey, savory dish your mom used to stir-fry in a frying pan with kimchi and meat — 🥹👍🏻

✔️A restaurant specializing in a single menu — pork kimchi grill — with a spacious dining room, group tables, outdoor seating, baby chairs, and a self-charging station✔️ Sarangjip is right near Ajou University's main gate, so accessibility is great. Maybe that's why there were so many students there! Plus the great value definitely helps... haha.

Pork kimchi grill (small) at 19,000 won: how spicy is the spicy version?

The pork kimchi grill (small) is ₩19,000. That day, we ordered the signature pork kimchi grill (small). Since spicy is available on request, we asked for it spicy!

It wasn't an artificial capsaicin heat — it was a punchy, satisfying spiciness that really clicked with the flavor 👍🏻🥹 (they add extra hot peppers, and it's delicious!!!). Through the open kitchen, you could see the owner tossing the wok with real energy to bring out that smoky char, and somehow that made it taste even better 😋

(They all look like the same wrap photo but they're not... haha.) Put meat, kimchi, and onion on a perilla leaf, add a touch of garlic, ssamjang (soybean paste), and mayo, and that combo is seriously insane ㅠ I usually don't eat garlic when I wrap food like this, but at Sarangjip it was so good I kept adding it lol. Wrapping in some pickled radish here and there was tangy-sweet and matched perfectly too!

Finishing fried rice for 2,000 won and a fried egg for 500 won

Sarangjip's finishing fried rice is ₩2,000. After enjoying the pork kimchi grill, you absolutely have to finish with the fried rice, right!? To make the fried rice nuttier and tastier, you should leave about 5 spoonfuls of meat and kimchi and ask the staff to make it for you! A must!!!

The leftover meat and sauce blend together so well, the nutty flavor is seriously the best... ㅜㅜ🤤👍🏻 On top of that, I added a fried egg, which is a must for fried rice, and I was genuinely shocked that with today's prices, a fried egg is only ₩500... ㅠ

Popping the yolk and mixing it into the fried rice made for a truly perfect, hearty meal. It was just the soft-boiled level I love, so I was extra satisfied!!! The staff were all so kind too, and with generous portions and reasonable prices, there was nothing missing — Sarangjip is truly a standout lunch spot in Uman-dong!

I'm planning to come back soon as a side dish with drinks haha. Sitting outside in this weather would be perfect. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a hearty, smoky lunch of pork kimchi grill! 🐷
