Today I'm introducing Sarangjip, a place I visited more times than I can count during my school days!! Sarangjip is a pretty famous pork kimchi grill restaurant right in front of Ajou University, and I really, really recommend it to Ajou students, people visiting Ajou University Hospital, and anyone looking for a good restaurant near Suwon World Cup Stadium ,, ♡
Where is Sarangjip, and what is the restaurant like inside?
Sarangjip is located in the Ajou University food alley area of Uman-dong, Suwon, so it's easy to get to for a meal straight from campus! The place is bigger than you'd expect, so it looked fine for a group visit too, and the vibe felt comfortable for a casual lunch or dinner. If you're looking for a meat restaurant near Ajou University, this location is worth noting :)

They also have a pork kimchi fried rice lunch special, so it seemed like a good option for a simple meal too. This time we tried the pork kimchi grill with added cheese ♥️🤤
What is the pork kimchi grill like with cheese added?

Finally, the pork kimchi grill arrived! Pork, kimchi and onion stir-fried together — just looking at it made me think of rice, haha

And then we added cheese on top! The pork kimchi grill already pairs the spicy kick of the kimchi with the savory taste of the pork nicely, but with cheese on top, the spiciness softened a bit and the savory flavor was boosted. Personally, I'd recommend the cheese combo! It's delicious with just the meat too, but eating the melted cheese with the pork and kimchi together brings out a whole different flavor.

The restaurant overall has a retro vibe going on, and they even have a cute guide on how to eat it best! 🐷

Sarangjip's side dishes are really the kicker ,, put fragrant perilla leaves together with radish wraps and mayonnaise and you honestly can't stop ㅠ.. The side dishes can be refilled continuously through the table order system!!

+) There's also a Naver review event, so make sure to join in! 💗
Fried rice to finish — free for Ajou University students
And there's no way you can leave after eating pork kimchi grill without... finishing with fried rice!

Before ordering the fried rice, leave about 5 spoonfuls behind ~!!

We left some meat and kimchi behind and ordered the fried rice, and cooking the rice in that leftover sauce meant the flavor of the kimchi and pork soaked all the way through — delicious.

I think the fried rice tastes best when it gets a little crispy and browned. While eating the pork kimchi grill earlier I thought, "Won't I be way too full if I eat fried rice too?" but once it actually arrived, there was still room… haha ✨And for Ajou University students, the fried rice is free~!✨
Is Sarangjip worth it for lunch near Ajou University?
Overall, Sarangjip felt like a place where you can enjoy the familiar combo of pork + kimchi done well, rather than anything flashy. The prices are reasonable for a meal near campus too, and with cheese added to the pork kimchi grill and fried rice to finish, it was quite filling.
Especially near Ajou University, this place is good for:
- ✔️ When you're craving a meat dish
- ✔️ When spicy kimchi grill sounds good
- ✔️ When you're looking for a casual place to eat with friends
- ✔️ When you want a good-value meat restaurant near Ajou University
A place worth visiting! If you're like me and eat around Ajou University often, I think it's worth a try at least once :)
