Suwon Maesan-ro katsu house: cordon bleu plus nabe at Gohobi Katsu
In short
Gohobi Katsu is a Japanese-style tonkatsu (pork cutlet) restaurant on Maesan-ro, an 8-minute walk from Suwon Station in Gyeonggi. Two dishes were ordered together at Gohobi Katsu — cordon bleu tonkatsu at 16,000 won and kimchi cheese nabe tonkatsu at 15,000 won — so each bite alternated between nutty melted cheese in crisp batter and spicy nabe broth. The two flavors run in completely different directions, so both bowls went down without ever feeling repetitive.

Where is Gohobi Katsu near Suwon Station, and when is it open?
Gohobi Katsu is a Japanese-style tonkatsu (pork cutlet) restaurant located at 40-1 Maesan-ro 2-ga, Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, an 8-minute walk from Suwon Station. It's open daily from 11:00 to 20:30, with last order at 20:00, and there's no break time on weekends. Delivery and takeout are both available, and if you're driving, there's free parking in the building's underground lot — the accessibility looked really good.

Today I visited Gohobi Katsu, a solid Suwon tonkatsu spot near Suwon Station that's great for a filling meal. Here's my honest review after trying it myself 😊

Is Gohobi Katsu comfortable for eating alone?
The interior of Gohobi Katsu has a quiet vibe where you can enjoy Japanese-style tonkatsu comfortably. It looked like a fine spot for solo diners to have a meal without feeling awkward.

Gohobi Katsu menu and what we ordered
Gohobi Katsu has a variety of tonkatsu menu options, so you can choose the style that suits your taste. Here's what we ordered:
- Cordon bleu tonkatsu ₩16,000
- Kimchi cheese nabe tonkatsu ₩15,000

Tips before you visit Gohobi Katsu
- Dishes are cooked right after ordering, taking about 10 minutes
- It's recommended to start eating from the smaller pieces first
- Dip the first bite of tonkatsu in the house-made salt to enjoy the meat's own flavor
- Try mixing the sauce with wasabi and eating them together
- The pink tint you might see in the meat isn't undercooking — it's a pinking effect from myoglobin (a protein) that appears in good-quality meat as it cooks, so you can eat it with confidence

On the table were neatly arranged tonkatsu sauce along with sesame and carrot dressings for the salad.

Cordon bleu tonkatsu, 16,000 won: a cheese cutlet like pizza
The first thing to arrive was the cordon bleu tonkatsu at ₩16,000. It comes with rice and soup too. The cordon bleu tonkatsu had quite a thick cut of meat, generously topped with cheese, pizza toppings, and sauce.

The cheese was especially delicious — I could really taste that rich, full cheese flavor 🤤 I didn't even know what cordon bleu tonkatsu was, but apparently it's a house-made pizza tonkatsu made by mixing thin sirloin with natural mozzarella, gouda cheese, and vegetables? I love pizza, so I was extremely, extremely happy about this. Crispy outside, moist inside! I completely fell for this cordon bleu I discovered by chance.
The crispy batter, tender meat, and rich cheese come together so well that anyone who enjoys cheese tonkatsu is bound to love this — I'd recommend it without hesitation.

Kimchi cheese nabe tonkatsu, 15,000 won: spicy enough to cure a hangover
Here comes the hearty kimchi cheese nabe tonkatsu! I ordered this because I wanted something with a broth. If you're looking for tonkatsu to cure a hangover, I highly recommend this one. Since it has kimchi in it, it's spicy and a little hot, which cuts all the greasiness — it was so delicious.

A Japanese-style hot pot dish where kimchi and tonkatsu sit in a shallow, concentrated nabe broth, topped with cheese 😊✨ It's not great when the tonkatsu gets too soggy, but Gohobi Katsu's nabe tonkatsu was in just the right state.

The verdict after alternating between the two dishes
Alternating between the savory, salty cordon bleu tonkatsu and the spicy kimchi cheese nabe tonkatsu, the two flavors were so different that I kept eating without ever getting tired of it haha. Crispy and full of umami — that's what makes it a great Suwon tonkatsu spot. Next time I'll have to come back and try the limited-quantity special premium loin katsu.
For anyone looking for a tonkatsu restaurant near Suwon Station, a Suwon restaurant, or a spot in Haenggung-dong, I recommend ❤️Gohobi Katsu in Suwon❤️
