Hanam Misa Chinese restaurant with a stone-plate pour: O Hyeongje

In short

O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang Hanam Misa Main Branch is a nurungjitang (scorched rice soup) Chinese restaurant in a standalone building on Misa-daero in Hanam, Gyeonggi. Two of us ordered the seafood abalone nurungjitang at 20,000 won and the fresh tenderloin glutinous-rice tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) at 26,000 won, watched a server pour the soup onto a sizzling stone plate, and filled up further at the 8-dish self-serve bar. For a family gathering that needs both big portions and real flavor, O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang is worth the trip.

I'm going to spill the tea right away on a genuinely insane hidden gem in Hanam Misa. We went as a duo and ordered nurungjitang (scorched rice soup) and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), and the portions were so massive I was shocked hahaha. If you're like me and refuse to give up either taste or quantity, you HAVE to go!!

Nurungjitang menu and prices, plus the takeout discount

💡 Dropping a variety of menu items & tips!

Menu board listing nurungjitang and Chinese dishes

Looking at the menu, true to being a nurungjitang specialty spot, there's a huge variety: seafood (₩18,000), abalone, mung bean, maesaengi seaweed (each ₩22,000), and jeongabok (₩28,000). They also serve high-quality Chinese dishes like fresh tenderloin glutinous rice tangsuyuk (₩26,000), chili shrimp, and yurinki. Here's a tip for you,

Sign about the per-item discount for takeout

they apparently give ₩1,000 off per item on every menu item if you take it out! I went with their bestseller, the seafood abalone nurungjitang (₩20,000), plus the fresh tenderloin glutinous rice tangsuyuk (₩26,000).

The 8-dish self-serve bar: pa-kimchi with scorched rice soup

Pa-kimchi and dried radish strips with squid jeotgal
Pre-meal salad and namul side dishes

On one side of the restaurant there's a really neatly maintained self-serve bar, where you can grab as much as you want from 8 side dishes plus dessert fruit for after the meal.

  • Namul (seasoned greens): not tough at all, soft in texture, with insane sesame oil aroma! Goes perfectly with the nurungjitang.
  • Dried radish strips with squid jeotgal (salted fermented squid): sweet-ish and chewy, so it's fun to bite into alongside the soft, porridge-like texture of the nurungjitang.
  • Pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi): seriously my number one pick!!! Piling pa-kimchi on top of the nurungjitang is an unexpectedly killer combo ㅠㅠ The pre-meal salad is also great for whetting your appetite!

How was the Korean fresh tenderloin glutinous-rice tangsuyuk?

🥩 The ultimate crispy-outside-tender-inside! Domestic 'fresh tenderloin glutinous rice tangsuyuk'

Cross-section of tangsuyuk batter and meat

This is a premium tangsuyuk that never uses frozen meat, insisting only on domestic chilled fresh tenderloin. The batter is thin and clean, golden like a baby chick, and packed inside is meat crammed in without any gaps — the texture is amazing. The sauce isn't your typical sugary sweetness either — it's loaded with fruit for a subtle, thick, upscale sweetness that lingers. The broccoli and cherry tomato garnish on top are fresh too, and great to eat alongside.

The stone-plate pour: seafood abalone nurungjitang at the table

🥘 A sizzling performance! The 'seafood abalone nurungjitang' that made me want to walk into the kitchen

Nurungjitang topped with abalone and fresh ginseng sprouts

They have a clever serving robot deliver the food here, but a staff member directly pours the ingredients onto a hot stone plate! Ch-shhhhh — the sound and the visual gave me a huge visual and auditory thrill 🔥 Thanks to the stone plate, it stays piping hot until the very end, and the broth isn't thin at all — it's thick, deep, and clean-tasting. Whole abalone and fresh ginseng sprouts sit on top, and it's generously loaded with scallops, shrimp, baby octopus, squid, and more seafood — one bite in and I genuinely wanted to walk into the kitchen and ask for the secret hahaha.

Verdict: how far one meal for two goes at O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang

When we paid after finishing, I noticed they also sell delicious kimchi separately at the counter! The prices are reasonable compared to other restaurants too, and honestly this was so well-executed I'd rank it the number one nurungjitang I've ever had in my life. The portions were generous enough that the two of us ate until we were stuffed, so if you're looking for a hearty, satisfying meal or a spot for a family gathering, I genuinely think O Hyeongje Hwangje Nurungjitang in Hanam Misa is worth the trip!!
