Suwon shabu-shabu with ice cream dessert and a kids room: Sodamchon

When you're planning a shabu-shabu meal with a kid in Jeongja-dong, Suwon, you want to know not just about the food but whether there's somewhere for the child to hang out too, right?

Sodamchon in Jeongja-dong, Suwon let us enjoy spring roll shabu-shabu and finish off with drinks and ice cream.

We visited with a child and ordered a half-and-half broth so we could have both mild and spicy at once, and after the meal, there was even a kids' space where the little one could watch a movie.

Where is Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch in Jeongja-dong?

Sodamchon Suwon Jeongja Branch is on the 4th floor of Gyeongseong Building, 171 Jeongjacheon-ro, Jangan-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi.

You'll find it on the 4th floor of the building with a Twosome Place, across from the Hyundai Oilbank station. The inside had plenty of tables spaced out, which made it comfortable for a family meal.

Where do you park near Sodamchon?

Parking for Sodamchon Jeongja Branch isn't at the store's own building — you use the nearby Sunil Parking Building instead.

It's the parking lot across from Lotteria, and it's said to be about a 4–5 minute walk to the restaurant. If you're going with a child, dropping the family off near the store first and then parking might be the easier way to go.

Which shabu-shabu did we order at Sodamchon?

We ordered the basic menu item, the spring roll shabu.

The spring roll shabu comes with spring rolls, shabu-shabu, and 120g of shabu meat, for ₩18,900 per person. It's a setup where you cook vegetables and meat in the broth and enjoy them together with the spring rolls.

You can bring over as many vegetables and shabu ingredients as you like, which made it nice to add a little bit of a lot of different things.

Which broth works when eating with a child?

Since we were eating with a child, we ordered the broth split half and half so we could have mild and spicy at the same time.

With mild broth good for the child on one side and spicy broth on the other, it was easy for adults and kids to eat their own preferred flavor at the same table.

As shown in the photo, the pot is divided down the middle, so you can cook meat and vegetables separately in each broth. It's a handy setup for when someone in the family can't handle spicy food.

How much is the lunch special at Sodamchon?

If you visit on a weekday for lunch, there's a lunch special menu with less meat than the regular menu.

The basic spring roll shabu set comes with 70g of shabu meat for ₩15,900. You can also choose lunch options with mushroom, wagyu, Hanwoo, or seafood added.

How was the family meal with a child?

What made eating with a child comfortable at Sodamchon in Jeongja-dong, Suwon was that there's a separate kids' space.

A mat-covered area had a projector set up, so kids could sit or lie down and watch a movie.

Having a separate space where the kids could stay while the adults finished their meal was convenient for a family outing.

Is there dessert and ice cream after the meal?

After finishing the meal, we could also have drinks and ice cream prepared at the restaurant for dessert.

It was convenient not having to move somewhere else after the shabu-shabu and spring rolls to get dessert — it was all in one place. The kids could also have ice cream after the meal and use the kids' space.

The type and manner of dessert offered may vary depending on the restaurant's situation, so consider this as reflecting what was available at the time of our visit.
