Three reasons Yun Ujae Gogidong Branch is worth the trip
- For 11,500 won per person you get a full set — bone broth shabu-shabu, noodles, and fried rice — at the same price for lunch and dinner.
- The handmade noodles are cold-aged for 48 hours and the neck sirloin is sliced fresh to order, so the quality is a cut above.
- A large dedicated parking lot, free corkage, and group rooms make it an easy choice for family meals or gatherings.
We visited a new spot in Yongin that's been getting a lot of buzz, with the family, over the weekend.

Honestly, my first reaction was "is this really possible at this price?" — but after trying it, I saved it straight into my regular reservation list. This is Yun Ujae Shabu Kalguksu in Yongin!

A hidden gem found while hunting for value spots in Giheung and Suji, Yongin
I love spicy, hot soups, so I end up at shabu-kalguksu places pretty often.

This Yun Ujae location had presence from the entrance alone. There's a generous 12-space dedicated lot right out front, so parking was completely stress-free. My first thought was that this would be an ideal family dinner spot, not just on weekday lunches or dinners but on weekends too. Inside, besides regular table seating, there are private rooms and group seating that fit anywhere from 2 to 8 people — great for gatherings or work dinners. And with free corkage on top, this might be a true paradise for anyone who likes to bring their own wine or favorite drink.

How to enjoy it best
The kimchi here is seriously good — I'm calling it, this place is a kimchi spot too.

This whole set for 11,500 won per person? The secret behind the value

When we sat down and looked at the menu, I couldn't believe my eyes — the red shabu-kalguksu was just 11,500 won per person!

There's the richly simmered bone broth,

70g of sirloin, vegetables and mushrooms,

flat noodles, regular noodles,

and finally fried rice to finish — the full set, and lunch and dinner are the same price. Any assumption that the meat would be lower quality or the portions small at this price was completely shattered. We also ordered the signature crispy seafood pancake (16,000 won) alongside it.

The spice level is also adjustable, so kids who can't handle heat can go mild while parents who love a spicy kick can go hot — the whole family can order to their own taste. You can also pay with local currency cards or Zero Pay, which made it even more of a deal.

How to eat the flat noodles the best way

48-hour cold-aged handmade noodles and flat kalguksu — the chewiness stands out
When our red shabu-kalguksu arrived and we started dropping fresh neck sirloin and vegetables into the simmering bone broth, I couldn't help but sigh with satisfaction.

The first reason this place stands out is the noodles. Instead of mass-produced kalguksu noodles bought in bulk, they use handmade noodles kneaded by the traditional foot-kneading method and cold-aged for over 48 hours. They don't get soggy even after long simmering, and the texture sits somewhere between kalguksu and sanuki udon — the chewiness was outstanding.
The signature flat kalguksu in particular is made in the style of Japanese wide udon, so wrapping it with tender meat and crunchy vegetables felt like it melted in your mouth.

The second thing that impressed me was the meat. They use only beef neck sirloin slaughtered within the past six months, and rather than pre-slicing it, they cut it fresh the moment it's ordered — so there was zero gamey smell, and the texture was remarkably tender.
Loaded with whole shrimp and squid — the crispy seafood pancake lives up to its name
Paired with the shabu-shabu, the crispy seafood pancake truly stayed crisp down to the very last bite, just as its name promises.

It's generously loaded with whole shrimp and fresh squid, and the batter blends three kinds of flour in a golden ratio with breadcrumbs added on top, giving it a fried-food-like crunch that was outstanding.
It completely solved the usual problem of pajeon (Korean savory pancake) going soggy — genuinely one of the best side dishes I've had. We were already full, but there was no skipping the finale.

The fried rice was also a total win. Rather than a porridge-like texture, it was a loose, fluffy kimchi fried rice packed with stir-fried kimchi, minari (water dropwort), and roasted seaweed flakes,
and for those having the seafood broth, you can ask for the secret recipe — with perilla seed powder, chili powder, egg, and seaweed flakes added when you put the noodles in — for a deeper, richer flavor. I'm planning to try the white broth next time.
