Suyeong Naengsam Daegu Direct Store is a naengsam (quick-frozen pork belly) restaurant on the 1st floor of 570-18 Gukchebosang-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu, just 105m from Exit 1 of Jungangno Station on Line 1. This is a Dongseongno, Daegu spot known as a true naengsam gem — Suyeong Naengsam.

What I liked even more was that the pork wasn't cut too thin — a proper Gyodong naengsam gem ^^ My husband and I both love meat, and we ate well and felt full and satisfied.

There's parking available across the street from the restaurant — just call ahead before parking.

Hours are Monday–Thursday 16:00–00:00 with last order at 23:00, and Friday–Sunday 16:00–01:00 with last order at 00:00. Closed on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of every month.

Inside Suyeong Naengsam at 5pm: seats filling up and the self-bar

We arrived at Suyeong Naengsam Daegu Direct Store around 5pm and there were already plenty of people eating — the side dishes come from a self-serve bar. By around 6pm, when we were finishing up, the place was nearly full, which reminded me once again why this is a real Gyodong, Daegu naengsam gem.

The other side of the restaurant was packed with customers too.

You just help yourself to whatever side dishes you want at the self-bar. Their pa kimchi (green onion kimchi) here is seriously good...!!!

Grilling the frozen pork belly with Suyeong Naengsam's homemade pa kimchi

First, the 4 servings of naengsam we ordered! Took a photo after putting a few pieces on the grill ღ'ᴗ'ღ They first sprinkle salt on the grill plate. The staff grill it for you at first, and after that you grill it yourself.

They grilled it beautifully golden brown~~~~ The staff told us the pa kimchi is made in-house and recommended eating it together with the meat~~!! And wow....!! I tried it and it was so good ㅠㅠ

From the second round on, my husband took over grilling duty and did a great job. We also grabbed potatoes and mushrooms from the self-bar to grill together! The potatoes turned golden brown and were amazing eaten alongside the meat.

Delicious wrapped in perilla leaves too~~!!

The pairing with pa kimchi that the staff recommended was incredible too.

After finishing 4 servings of frozen pork belly at Suyeong Naengsam Daegu Direct Store, we added 3 more servings~! The two of us ate 7 servings total.

My husband said he wanted a beer but ended up ordering a zero-sugar cola instead.

The pork doenjang stew was really packed with ingredients, right? The seasoning was spot on too — my husband and I both dug in eagerly!

White rice + naengsam + pa kimchi = love ღ'ᴗ'ღ We really enjoyed every bite~~~!!
