Café near LG Arts Center for pre-show matcha cheesecake: Pict Roastery

Today I'm bringing you a review of [Pict Roastery Magoknaru Branch], a café in Magoknaru! This time I was searching for somewhere nearby to spend time before watching the musical [Dracula] at LG Arts Center in Magoknaru. It's close to Magoknaru Station and roasts its own coffee, so I went in with high expectations haha.

Where is Pict Roastery Magoknaru Branch, and is there parking?

Pict Roastery Magoknaru Branch is on the 2nd floor of the Castle Park building at 161-1 Magokjungang-ro, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. Parking is free for 2 hours, so it seems fine to drive there too.

I went by subway, and you just need to exit through Exit 2 of Magoknaru Station.

After exiting, turn left at the corner and go straight.

Keep going straight, turn left again, and you'll find the Castle Park building. Pass by the sign listing the businesses inside, and you'll see the stairs up to the 2nd floor.

Once you go up, there's a directory sign right in front of you. Turn right twice from there and you'll find Pict Roastery. It was easy to get to on foot from Magoknaru Station, so it's convenient by public transit too.

What is the café like inside?

The atmosphere at Pict Roastery was calm and comfortable.

The music playing added to that mood too — it was a nice place to sit for a while.

I loved the sleek black-toned interior, and I could even see the machine they use to roast the green beans, which made it feel like a café that's really serious about coffee haha.

I sat at a window seat this time! I'd brought my laptop since I had some work to do, and every window seat has a floor outlet, so I could charge my phone and plug in my laptop adapter at the same time, which was great.

I ordered the matcha basque cheesecake and a decaf americano, though I agonized for a while because there were so many things I wanted to try ㅠㅠ

The matcha basque cheesecake had such a great texture. It was chewy and dense yet moist.

I really love cheesecake and often order it as dessert at cafés, and this one ranks among the best I've had.

The matcha flavor was well-balanced too, the kind that most people would enjoy.

Decaf americano

Pict Roastery roasts its own beans and has several varieties, so choosing my coffee was the hardest part haha.

This time I ordered decaf — and honestly, it's hard to find good-tasting decaf beans.

But the decaf americano here was so smooth, not bitter at all, and left a nice finish all the way through.

After trying the decaf, I wanted to try other beans too haha.

Refills, weekday discounts and buying beans

Pict Roastery offers one free iced americano refill when you order a drink in-store! Isn't that such a great deal??

On weekdays from 11am to 2pm, the americano is discounted by ₩2,000, so keep that in mind if you're visiting on a weekday afternoon :)

You can also buy beans directly at the store or order them online.

If you enjoy brewing coffee at home, it might be worth picking up a bag of beans!!

Is Pict Roastery worth a stop before LG Arts Center?

This was such a nice café to relax in before a show. The atmosphere was calm, and both the coffee and desserts were great quality. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting nearby Seoul Botanic Park, heading to a show at LG Arts Center like I was, or just looking for a Magoknaru café :) Next time I definitely want to try coffee with different beans and some of the other desserts that looked delicious haha.
