Suwon café for exam-day study and homemade walnut pie: Café Meomureum

A day off spent studying at Café Meomureum in Jeongja-dong, Suwon

It had been a while since I took a day off, and I got to enjoy a leisurely morning. I actually woke up earlier than on work days and spent about an hour reading in my room, just taking it easy. Today's destination was a dessert café with great vibes in Jeongja-dong, Suwon — Café Meomureum (카페 머무름).

On the bus over, I passed near Dongnam Health University, and seeing college students heading to class early in the morning brought back memories. I'm a working adult now, far removed from campus life, but I carried that old exam-time energy with me anyway as I headed off to study.

When I got to the mall building and looked up, I spotted a neatly kept storefront on the 2nd floor.

Why the homemade walnut pie was the pick

I was originally going to get the apple pie, but since today meant a lot of brainwork for exam studying, I switched to the homemade walnut pie instead — good for the brain, right?!

Other desserts like the egg tart and garlic bread looked so good, too — genuinely gorgeous. I'll have to try the garlic bread next time.

After ordering and getting my buzzer, I looked around and spotted a quirky little item — a tissue box shaped like a Moai statue. The tissue pulls out from its nose like the Moai is blowing it, which got a small laugh out of me.

Is Café Meomureum's study space good for real studying?

One special thing about Café Meomureum is its independent study space. It feels like a high-end study café, which makes it great for focusing on work or studying. I used it myself and got seriously locked in on my exam prep. If I pass this exam, I might have to give this café half the credit!

Café Meomureum also runs a private study room and small-gathering space reservation service. On the day I visited, a group of women had booked it in advance. It's suited for all kinds of purposes — kids' birthday parties, parent meetups, small classes, or study groups!

Another thing that impressed me was the number of quality artworks hanging throughout the space. It felt like being in a small art museum or gallery, so it was fun to sip tea and admire the pieces.

How the americano and homemade walnut pie tasted

I recharged on caffeine with a cool americano and went back into study mode.

The homemade walnut pie I ordered for dessert exceeded expectations. The generous pile of walnuts on top gave it a lovely nutty flavor and satisfying crunch. The sweetness here was just right — not too sweet, not too plain, the kind that fits perfectly on the tongue.

The nutty richness paired perfectly with the clean americano, and I enjoyed every last bite happily.

Between the great focus and the great dessert, this easily ranks as one of my favorite café finds in Suwon.

Café Meomureum has it all — a friendly owner, a cozy atmosphere, and standout desserts. It's great for studying or reading alone, and with its private rental space, it's also ideal for birthday parties, parent meetups, or study groups.

If you're looking for a clean, atmospheric dessert café in Jeongja-dong, Jangan-gu, Suwon, I highly recommend visiting without hesitation. I'll definitely be back whenever I need to study for an exam or just want some peace and quiet!
