After-work Cloud beer at an Eunpyeong ramen bar: Oreno Ramen
In short
Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is a chicken-broth ramen restaurant on Bulgwangcheon-gil, a 4-minute walk from Exit 1 of Saejeol Station (Line 6) in Eunpyeong, Seoul. Stopping in alone after work, the writer took a solo counter seat facing the open kitchen, ordered tori paitan with extra cilantro and a bottle of Cloud beer, and finished with half a bowl of rice mixed into the broth. For anyone who can't handle heat, the mild tori paitan is the better starting point over the spicy karai paitan at Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong.

How to walk from Saejeol Station to Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong
Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is a 4-minute walk from Exit 1 of Saejeol Station on Line 6, at 366 Bulgwangcheon-gil, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul. I went back for ramen again today. It had been a while since I'd been out to Eunpyeong-gu after work, and I'm glad I made the trip. Everything tastes good when you're hungry after work, right? Haha. Since it's supposedly a famous ramen spot in Eunpyeong-gu, let's get right to it.
I crossed over Bulgwangcheon. Crossing on the stepping stones felt fun and novel. The weather was nice, so lots of people were out exercising. Walking along the stream, you'll see a red sign on the left reading Oreno Ramen — it's easy to spot.

The red glow welcomed me in. Even at dinner time there were quite a few customers. Now that I think about it, I'd walked past this place before but never realized it was such an Eunpyeong-gu favorite. Anyway, let's go in. Inside, a friendly staff member was helping people order at the kiosk — even first-timers with kiosks would find it easy to use.

Tori paitan or karai paitan: which should a spice-shy eater order?
Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong offers two kinds of ramen: tori paitan (not spicy) and karai paitan (spicy). The dining hall was open and spacious, which I liked. Let's go ahead and order. There were only two ramen options, clearly explained beside the kiosk, which made it easy to browse. Between the spicy and non-spicy versions, I ordered the regular tori paitan since I can't handle spicy food well. I added cilantro to it and ordered a nice cold beer too! Some other customers were ordering and eating the spicy karai paitan — I'll try that next time. I hear it's about as spicy as Shin Ramyun, but being such a spice wimp, I went with the milder, more popular option.

Watching the open kitchen from a solo counter seat
Sitting at a solo seat at Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong, you can watch the staff cook right in front of you. I sat at one of those seats and got to see everything being prepared freshly. Sitting at the solo counter, you can watch the neat cooking process and it's genuinely fun while you wait. I also watched the noodles come out perfectly timed.

The dining hall was really spacious and the solo seats were super comfortable. The place was also neatly organized, which I appreciated. There's clearly a reason it's a well-loved spot in Eunpyeong-gu, haha. There are also tables for two or more people.

A bottle of Cloud beer after work
At Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong you can order a bottled beer alongside your ramen. Beer after work tastes like pure gold, right? Haha. The Cloud beer arrived first. The glass was so cute I had to take a photo. One sip and all the fatigue just melted away.

Chicken-broth tori paitan with extra cilantro
Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong's tori paitan is chicken-broth based, topped with green onion, egg, and chicken breast, and arrived in about 5 minutes after ordering. And then my tori paitan finally arrived! Most ramen broths I know are soybean-paste based, but this one at Oreno Ramen is chicken-broth based — surprising! The milky white broth looked just like a bone broth, and it looked so refreshing. It's made to order right there, and it took about 5 minutes. Green onion on top, and chicken breast inside along with the egg. I added cilantro to mine and was curious how it would taste.

I stirred it up first and looked at the noodles. Oh — they looked like tantanmen noodles! I stirred well so the noodles and broth would blend together, then took a bite. Mmm, so delicious! The harmony was better than I expected, and it genuinely surprised me. Look at that broth — doesn't it look so clean and delicious? The mild broth paired with the cilantro created a really harmonious flavor.

Soft-boiled egg and cilantro together
And the soft-boiled egg!! I love eggs, but I usually only eat them fully cooked, so having it soft-boiled was a real treat. Eggs really are the best thing to have with noodles, right? Gotta get that protein in, too. And then the noodles with cilantro — I usually only eat cilantro with pho, but having it with ramen was a perfect match. This really is a top Eunpyeong-gu spot!

Sous-vide chicken breast and half a bowl of rice in the broth
Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong's tori paitan hides sous-vide chicken breast inside, and rice, noodles, and cilantro can all be refilled. The chicken breast hidden inside!! Being sous-vide, it was mild and delicious. Most places I know add chashu, so having chicken instead felt fresh and tasty!
Rice, noodles, cilantro, and more can all be refilled. I originally wasn't going to order rice, but the broth was so good I ordered half a bowl to mix in. Wow!! Definitely the right call. Rice soaked in the broth, plus kimchi — an absolutely perfect combination.
If you're heading to Eunpyeong-gu, take a walk along Bulgwangcheon and grab a bowl of tasty ramen at this Eunpyeong-gu favorite, Oreno Ramen. Next time I'll come back for the spicy ramen.
