Where is Siznique in Daegu Shinsegae Department Store?

Siznique Shinsegae Department Store Daegu Branch is on the basement floor of the Shinsegae Department Store by Dong Daegu Station. On good days, or whenever the whole family gathers, cake is the first thing that comes to mind. Eating cake together after a meal makes everyone so happy! And when the cake actually tastes good, that's the icing on top.

Cake is food you eat knowing you'll gain weight, so it's unforgivable if it doesn't taste good. My family loves sitting at the table after a meal, having cake and coffee, and just talking.

We end up trying all kinds of cakes, but if you ask us to name the most memorable one, the whole family would answer in one voice — the mango cake at Siznique Shinsegae Department Store Daegu Branch.

The location is convenient too, tucked in the basement of the Shinsegae near Dong Daegu Station. It's close to home, so I'll probably drop by often. It's also the perfect spot to grab a cake before hopping on a train!! Being in such a transit hub makes this cake shop even more convenient. The mango cake in particular got such a good reaction from my family that it's become a regular pick for us.

Boksunga Nongjang Wareureu peach cake, large size 60,000 won

Siznique's peach cake is called Bokssunga Nongjang Wareureu (복숭아농장와르르, roughly "Peach Farm Tumbling Down"), and the large size is ₩60,000. This is exactly why summer is happy — peaches!!! Siznique's peach cake just piles on peaches that are already delicious plain, so of course it looks like it can't possibly taste bad.

The fruit that goes into Siznique's cakes is sweet to begin with and bursts with juice. It's basically a fruit fireworks show.

The good fruit is used generously and pairs beautifully with the soft, light whipped cream for real synergy. This is a freshness and sweetness you really have to taste to understand. It's also nice that you can choose the cake size at Siznique. We always finish the large size in one sitting, so we naturally went with large. I think it's best to pick the size you can finish in one go. (Though honestly, cake tastes amazing even after a night in the fridge...)

Siznique's seasonal fig cake, saved for the next visit

This time we only eyed Siznique's fig cake and marked it down for next time. Figs are in season right now, and mango and fig are actually my two favorite fruits!!!! So lately I'm eating a pack of figs a day... yes, I'm the fig ghost who can polish off a whole pack in one day!!

A fig cake with figs piled on this thickly?! This one is officially next on my list.

Even at a glance, the fruit looks fresh and appetizing. Next time I'll definitely go for the fig cake. Gotta try it before fig season ends~~

Siznique's mango cake: how much mango is inside?

The first cake we picked at Siznique was the mango cake. I love mango enough to say I'd travel to Southeast Asia just to eat it.

Lately I'm hooked on the mango sorbet at Costco and get it every single time I go. It has the texture and taste of real mango, so it's been a refreshing treat every shopping trip.

Loving mango this much, it was only natural that the first cake I picked at Siznique was the mango cake.

With so much mango piled on top, the cake feels heavy when you pick it up. The packaging is classy too, great for housewarmings or gifts. It tastes great as well, so sharing it would make for an even happier gift.

The sweet mango is piled on without a single gap. Seeing this, there's no holding back...

When there's a cake, you have to blow out the candles before eating for the full experience. We blew and relit the candles a few times before finally getting to dig in.
