Looking for a good sundaeguk (blood sausage soup) to cure a hangover? I went to Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk (옛날경성순대국), a newly opened Nokyang-dong spot that's so clean and lovely — a real find!

Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch

Where is Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch, and is there parking?
Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch sits on Dongil-ro, toward Eulji University Hospital in Uijeongbu. It's a pretty big place I'd been wanting to try, and I finally made it! Loved that there was plenty of parking.

Right now, through the end of September, there's an opening event: free chapssal sundae, plus a raw take-home pack — 3 portions for the price of 2, just 18,000 won. Great value!

What is the restaurant like inside?
The interior is fresh and clean like a new place should be, with a wood-tone design that made it feel really open and spacious. So refreshing to look at!

Oh, the raw take-home packs I saw outside get an even bigger discount for dine-in customers!

Menu and prices
At Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch, the pyeonyuk (sliced boiled pork)/chapssal sundae set is 14,000 won, the special version is +1,000 won, and you can switch to a spicy version too. Nice and flexible ordering.

Here's what we ordered: ✔️ Sundaeguk 11,000 ✔️ Small chapssal sundae 8,000 ✔️ Special pork gukbap 13,000 Order complete 💘

Grinding your own sesame: fun for kids too
Apparently grinding sesame seeds into the soup makes it even nuttier — first time I've seen this!
Grind grind! It was actually fun to do with a kid, haha, such an unusual touch.

Great stress relief while doing it! Though my husband's sesame somehow disappeared without a trace — should've taken a picture.

Side dishes and the free refill bar
The basic side dishes at Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch are seokbagi (radish kimchi), kimchi, onion, and peppers. I was curious about the refill bar, so I checked it out — everything was delicious!

Surprisingly, the refill bar was a bigger scale than I expected — beyond the basic sides, there was green onion, chives, and garlic-seasoned side dish too, so I grabbed some.

And the free chapssal sundae from the opening event! The portions were already generous, and with the extra sundae it made for a really filling meal!

What kind of restaurant is Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk?
This branch belongs to a sundaeguk restaurant that started in 2017 among the old-timers of Yongin Jungang Market's sundae alley. Yongin's Cheoin-gu was historically known as a stopover on the road to Hanyang, where many travelers rested — a market grew up around it, and among many sundaeguk restaurants there, Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk has been developing its own flavor ever since.

Native sundae and a light broth: why it works for a family lunch
Adding the ground sesame into the milky broth is perfect. I liked how clean the broth tastes — it's a quiet, comfortable place for family gatherings or a work dinner too. And baby chairs are all set up!
What I really liked was that the sundae inside the soup is native sundae (토종순대), not chapssal sundae, and the broth is mild rather than the heavy, sticky old-school sundaeguk style, so it wasn't too much even to eat with a kid. Paired with the kimchi that comes alongside, it's a perfect match.

As you can probably tell from the photo, the broth is on the thinner side, so it has a lighter feel overall.

The small portion of chapssal sundae we ordered also arrived — a true feast on the table!

Just by looking, you can tell there's more filling than broth, right? It's a place solo diners could easily come to and just focus on eating.

A piece of lung with salted shrimp on top, wow~~~! So tender it's honestly dangerous — this is the kind of place where you'd come to cure a hangover and end up getting drunk again while pairing it with a drink... it just goes down so easily.

I was about ready to scrape the bottom of the earthenware pot... The taste leans clean rather than greasy, so I could finish it all comfortably! Whenever you're craving sundaeguk or just a hearty bowl in Nokyang-dong, Uijeongbu, this is a great place to stop by!

On the way out, there were candies, hair ties, and even sweet rice puffs waiting — such a thoughtful touch. That's the end of my review of Yetnal Gyeongseong Sundaeguk Nokyang Branch!
