Ansan Italian restaurant: three-sauce bread and lamb chops, That Man's

Looking for somewhere in Ansan with both a great atmosphere and great food? This time I visited a place that fits the bill perfectly: That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge.

Where That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge is, and what the room feels like

That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge is an Italian restaurant on the 6th floor of the Dongwon Building on Gojan 1-gil in Ansan's Jungang-dong. Step inside and the whole space feels clean and upscale, mixing white and gray tones.

The tables weren't crammed together and the lighting wasn't too bright, so it was easy to chat comfortably while eating.

On one side there was a separate group table that could seat 6 or more, which would work well for family gatherings, work dinners, or small get-togethers.

Outside there's also an outdoor space, and at night the mood changes completely once the lights come on. It felt like a place to spend time a bit more leisurely rather than just eating and leaving — a great fit if you're looking for an Ansan Jungang-dong pasta restaurant with atmosphere to match.

What is on the menu at That Man's, and what we ordered

That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge's menu was more varied than I expected — pasta, steak, salad, wine, even highballs. The pasta was divided into tomato, oil, and cream styles, so it was easy to pick by preference, and the steaks included both wagyu and lamb chops.

After some deliberation we ordered the lamb chop steak and the seafood tomato spaghetti.

The pre-meal bread and its three sauces

Before the mains arrived, we got pre-meal bread first, and it was way better than expected, haha. Slightly crisp on the outside, soft and clean-tasting on the inside.

Dipped into the sauces served alongside it, my hand kept reaching for more even before the mains showed up. Usually pre-meal bread is just a bite or two while you wait, but here the bread itself was so good it made me think, "I can look forward to the mains too."

Do the lamb chops have a gamey smell?

That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge's lamb chop steak came plated neatly, and the look of it alone said "good for a special occasion." The first thing I check with lamb is the gamey smell, and here it was much less than I expected, so I ate comfortably from the very first bite.

Above all, the meat was really tender. No toughness or dryness — the more I chewed, the more juice came through with a clean, savory flavor. Several sauces came with the plate too, and it was fun mixing and matching them one by one.

I tried the mustard-style sauce, then the herb-style one, and it was also delicious with just a light touch of salt.

Even though it was the same lamb, each sauce gave it a slightly different feel, so I never got tired of it and enjoyed it to the last bite. Personally, I came for pasta in Ansan Jungang-dong but was really glad we also ordered the lamb chops.

How was the seafood tomato spaghetti?

And then the seafood tomato spaghetti, which I genuinely enjoyed.

As you can see in the photos, it was loaded with clams and seafood, and the tomato sauce color was deep and rich, so it looked appetizing the moment it arrived. On the first bite, the tomato's acidity didn't overpower anything, and it blended naturally with the umami from the seafood.

The seafood especially felt fresh. The clams had no fishy taste and were clean, and the sauce and noodles came together so well that I kept eating without noticing. It wasn't too intense but wasn't bland either, so I think my parents would enjoy it too.

That balance is exactly why I'd recommend it without hesitation to anyone looking for pasta in Ansan Jungang-dong.

Why That Man's works for a meal with parents

While eating, I kept thinking, "this would be nice to bring my parents to." The restaurant wasn't noisy, the tables were set neatly, and the food wasn't too intense in flavor — altogether a comfortable atmosphere for a family meal.

With private seating and group tables available too, it seems well suited for anniversaries or family gatherings. It's plenty good for a date spot too, but I actually found myself wanting to come back for a meal with my parents instead.

Overall, That Man's Italian Restaurant & Lounge felt calm and well put-together across atmosphere, food, and service. The pre-meal bread was delicious from the start, the lamb chop steak was really tender with no gamey smell, and the seafood tomato spaghetti had a great combination of fresh seafood and sauce. The portions weren't huge, but that actually made it a good spot for slowly working through several dishes and leaving in a good mood.
