Tangjeong grilled fish set for two, Asan: Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo
In short
Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo Asan Tangjeong Branch is a wood-fired grilled fish restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Ramada Encore building in Tangjeong-myeon, Asan, a one-minute walk from Tangjeong Station. The two-person value set (31,000 won) brought grilled imyeonsu (Atka mackerel) and gochujang-seasoned mackerel, with a pot rice upgrade for 1,000 won and an all-you-can-eat 15-dish Korean side bar that included stir-fried pork, braised tofu and japchae (glass noodle stir-fry). Crisp outside and juicy inside from the wood-fired oven, plus the self-serve bar, made this a satisfying family meal.

I'd been craving grilled fish for a while, so I headed to a newly opened Tangjeong restaurant that specializes in it — Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo Asan Tangjeong Branch. I completely fell for their crisp-outside, juicy-inside grilled fish, cooked in a hand-built volcanic-stone fire oven at over 500°C!

It was also a satisfying Tangjeong restaurant thanks to the all-you-can-eat self-serve bar packed with 15 Korean side dishes. Here's my freshly written review~

What we ordered at Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo
We ordered the two-person value set for ₩31,000 (imyeonsu + seasoned mackerel), plus the pot rice upgrade at ₩1,000 x 2. This set is cheaper than ordering everything separately.

Little dishes of soy sauce and fresh wasabi were neatly arranged on the table — add them to taste. Seaweed soup arrived along with the plates, and once you have your plate, you're free to roam the self-serve Korean bar.
The all-you-can-eat 15-dish Korean self-serve bar
The self-serve bar at Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo Asan Tangjeong Branch has stir-fried pork, rolled omelet, japchae, and braised tofu. I figured these dishes would be great mixed together, and sure enough, there was a thoughtful touch — bibim sauce! If you want bibimbap, just ask staff.

The side dishes were neatly laid out — remember to just take what you'll eat. Braised tofu, japchae, stir-fried pork, rolled omelet, radish salad, seasoned lotus root, seasoned chili peppers, sweet-vinegar bellflower root, seasoned bean sprouts, seasonal greens, fresh kimchi, pickled onion, pickled garlic scapes, lettuce — I loaded up my plate and brought it back to the table.
Upgrading to pot rice for 1,000 won
I highly recommend upgrading to the freshly cooked, piping-hot pot rice! The rice was fluffy and chewy, and it tasted really good.

The soft seaweed soup seems like something kids would love too.
Two-person value set: grilled imyeonsu and gochujang mackerel

The fire-oven grilled fish came out right after ordering, fresh from the 500°C-plus oven. The table suddenly looked incredibly full.
Gochujang-seasoned grilled mackerel

The savory, clean flavor of the mackerel combined with the sweet-spicy gochujang seasoning really wakes up your appetite. The seasoning soaks moist into the flesh, making it great with rice, and the salty-sweet, gently spicy flavor makes it the perfect rice thief.

The sweetness wasn't overdone, so even with the seasoning on it, the fish tasted clean.
Grilled imyeonsu (Atka mackerel)
Grilled in the fire oven until golden and clean-tasting on the outside, with very moist and tender flesh inside — the grilled imyeonsu! It had a rich, savory aroma, and the clean flesh paired perfectly with rice.

A fish without any fishy taste, easy for anyone of any age to enjoy — highly recommended!

Doenjang paste and stir-fried pork, yum! Unlimited refills of that delicious stir-fried pork — such a great deal! If you're not a fan of fish, you could easily order the Korean set meal without grilled fish and still be very satisfied. The self-serve dishes weren't overly seasoned and had a healthy, clean flavor, so even after overeating, my stomach felt fine. The warm, soft braised tofu was especially my favorite.

And the fish skin, grilled in the fire oven, was delicious too. Wrapped up the meal with some savory scorched-rice tea 💗
Free soft-serve ice cream through the review event
The all-you-can-eat soft-serve, normally ₩2,000, can be enjoyed for free by joining the review event. It was sweet, soft milk ice cream and made for a wonderful dessert.
