Asan à la carte grilled mackerel and pot rice: Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo
In short
Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo Asan Tangjeong Branch is a new wood-fired grilled fish restaurant with a Korean self-serve bar, on the 2nd floor of the brown building in front of Tangjeong Station in Asan. Ordering à la carte, the grilled mackerel and grilled atka mackerel came with added pot rice, plus stir-fried pork, rolled egg, braised tofu, japchae (glass noodles) and namul (seasoned vegetables) from the self-serve bar. Half the pot rice was eaten with the fish and half as bibimbap, finished with nurungji (scorched rice) and omija tea — a Korean spread that felt like real value.

On a day I was craving warm rice with nicely browned grilled fish, I visited a new grilled fish restaurant that just opened in front of Tangjeong Station.
Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo, which I visited today, has braised tofu, rolled egg, japchae, and even stir-fried pork ready at the self-serve bar, so it's a great-value spot where you can fill up on Korean side dishes as well as the fish. A lot of other places make you add stir-fried pork separately, but here you could just help yourself as much as you wanted at the bar.

Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo is on the 2nd floor of the brown building with a Pascucci in front of Tangjeong Station.
Where to park near Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo by Tangjeong Station
I conveniently used the Handeul Mulbit City Public Parking Lot 1 right in front — it's paid, but the rates were cheap.

The public lot gives you the first 30 minutes free, then ₩200 every 10 minutes, and ₩300 every 10 minutes after 1 hour. It said it's open free of charge during Chuseok. If you use the building's own parking lot, you get 2 hours free, so be sure to register your car after eating~
Inside the restaurant and what's there for kids
Since it just opened, the interior is very spacious and clean. Even though it's on the 2nd floor, the ceilings are high and it felt pleasant.
Baby chairs and trays are available, and a microwave can be used too.

From the window seats you can look down on Tangjeong Station and the parking lot.
Ordering by table order: à la carte dishes or value sets
Orders and payment go through a table-order system — besides the 2-, 3-, and 4-person value sets, check out the à la carte menu items too~

I ordered grilled mackerel and grilled atka mackerel à la carte, plus added pot rice.

What's on the Korean self-serve bar at Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo
They give you a plate, and you help yourself at the self-serve bar.

Three-color namul side dishes, pickles, doraji (bellflower root), lotus root, cucumber salad...
Kimchi and lettuce...
Stir-fried pork
Fluffy rolled egg
Red braised tofu

Japchae
It's a Korean buffet you could enjoy happily even without the main grilled fish~ If you don't want the grilled fish, you can use the self-serve bar with the cheaper Korean full-course menu.

A hearty table for the day, with basic seaweed soup~~~ As always, Korean food is the best 👍 And here's today's main event, the grilled mackerel and grilled atka mackerel.

Mackerel and atka mackerel grilled in the volcanic-stone oven
Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo's oven is handmade by craftsmen entirely out of volcanic stone. Volcanic stone is said to have excellent antibacterial properties, and releasing plenty of oxygen along with far-infrared rays and negative ions, which adsorbs and breaks down heavy metals in the body — very good for you. Grilled in this great oven at over 500°C for just the right amount of time, the fish comes out crisp outside, soft inside... a grilled fish that keeps its nutrients intact.
There's no way you'd get this taste grilling it at home~ The bones came off completely clean, leaving the plump flesh whole... it was easy to eat.

Dipped right into the wasabi soy sauce, it was clean-tasting and so delicious. The mackerel flesh was a bit firmer, while the atka mackerel was much softer with more flesh.

Pot rice two ways: half with the fish, half as bibimbap
I ate half the pot rice with the fish, and turned the other half into bibimbap — ask staff for a larger bowl for the bibimbap~

Finished it off with nurungji (scorched rice) too... completely stuffed.

Dessert bar: omija tea, barley tea and soft-serve ice cream
There's even tea at the dessert bar, so I had a refreshing cup of omija tea. The one next to it looked like plum tea but turned out to be barley tea... haha 😆 The soft-serve ice cream in this lineup is extra, so ask staff if you want it~
Grilled fish and Korean side dishes — things you never quite get around to making at home... At Busan-e Tteun Godeungeo near Tangjeong Station, I got to enjoy a proper grilled fish course, deliciously and comfortably, for the first time in a while. Give it a visit~^^
