Gangnam hair salon long layered Re-Born perm: Park Jun Beauty Lab

The season had changed, and I also wanted to tidy up the long hair I’d been growing out for ages, so I looked into hair salons near Sinnonhyeon Station and visited Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch. This time, I got a Re-Born perm. Associate Director Gaeul first checked my hair condition before starting the perm.

A bright salon and services while you wait

The salon is on the second floor and had an overall bright atmosphere. Its large windows let plenty of natural light in, and each seat has a power outlet, so you can charge your phone while getting your hair done.

After storing your belongings in a locker, you are served welcome tea while you wait.

I had iced chamomile tea. You can also choose a drink during the perm, and light snacks were available too.

Choosing a Re-Born perm between C-curls and S-curls

Before the perm, we checked the curls and overall silhouette I wanted, then did the cut and perm together. My hair had grown out quite a bit and most of my old perm had faded, so it needed some tidying up. A C-curl alone felt a little too plain, while an S-curl felt slightly overwhelming, so I went with a Re-Born perm for natural-looking waves.

The perm process, tailored to my hair condition

First, I had my hair shampooed at the wash station. Afterward, they checked my hair condition and prepared the products for the perm.

I could see them mixing in the ampoule, and then they applied the perm solution blended with the ampoule to my hair.

Next, they divided my hair into sections, wrapped it according to the wave shape I wanted, and moved on to heat processing.

Since the process and timing can vary depending on hair condition, length, and the curls you want, they continued while checking my hair condition.

There was shampooing and rinsing midway through, followed by heat processing and neutralization. Finally, they dried my hair and shaped the curls.

Layered waves that preserve long hair

Once the perm was finished, the layered cut and waves flowed together throughout. They did not cut much off the length, instead adding layers to refine the way the hair falls. Rather than giving every section the same curl, they finished the waves so they flowed naturally according to the length.

Associate Director Gaeul also showed me how to arrange the curls when drying my hair at home. The method is to dry the hair while guiding it in the direction of the waves, so if you want to learn how to care for a perm afterward, be sure to ask about this too. Since it keeps the long length while refreshing both the overall curls and layered lines, this Re-Born perm was a great option when I wanted a change from my existing hairstyle.
