Goyang garden café for garlic bread dates: Baedagol Bakery House

A spacious garden bakery café in Wondang

I visited a bakery café in Wondang, just outside Seoul, with lots of breads, reasonable prices, and great flavor. It also has a huge garden, lovingly maintained landscaping, plenty of tables, and a lovely atmosphere.

Even at 2 p.m. on a weekday, there were quite a few people. But the café is so large that it never felt crowded, and we could enjoy our coffee quietly. 😍

A huge bread selection at good prices

These days, a single loaf can cost close to ₩10,000, so I thought the prices here were good 🙂 There were seriously so many kinds of bread that I agonized over what to get haha.

There were lots of cakes and puddings too, as well as drinks for children.

We had come to a bakery café, so we couldn't just pass up the bread, right? There were more varieties than I expected, so I slowly looked over the displays for ages deciding what to choose. Wanting to try a little of several things, I picked six-clove garlic bread for ₩6,000, salt bread for ₩3,000, and campagne for ₩7,000.

For drinks, we ordered an Americano and a fresh melon Wawreureu latte.

Roomy seats overlooking the garden

The café is divided between the first and second floors. I sat on the first floor by the outdoor garden. We were only planning a short stay, so we couldn't linger, but once we sat down, the atmosphere was so nice that I didn't want to leave 🥲🥲 Weekends would be nice too, but if you have time on a weekday, go and enjoy a leisurely visit haha.

The garden filled the view through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and it was really lovely 😍 The tables were generously spaced too, making it easy to stay comfortably. Among the cafés with outdoor gardens I've visited recently, the landscaping here was one of the most impressive.

Large potted plants were placed throughout the café too, so the garden-café feeling continued indoors.

I also looked around the second floor, which had a different atmosphere from the first. There were about three room-like separated seating areas, and they looked great for sitting privately 😮 One was empty, and if I had come up to the second floor first, I think I would have chosen that spot haha.

There is outdoor seating on the second floor as well, so take a look when you visit. The garden viewed from above was pretty in a different way too.

The breads and drinks we chose after much deliberation

They looked delicious in the photos, but when I actually tried them, all the breads were really good. Each had a different texture and flavor, so it was fun tasting them one by one. The cream-filled breads especially were generously packed with cream, making every bite feel wonderfully full.

The garlic bread was my favorite haha. We packed up the salt bread because we had too much bread, and my child said it was super delicious 🙂

There was a separate self-packing station, which made it nice and easy to pack things up!

The fresh melon Wawreureu latte tasted like a Melona bar haha. It was milk-based, with lots of melon purée at the bottom. They gave us plenty of purée, so mixed with the milk, it had a really rich melon flavor. At ₩10,000, it was on the expensive side, but it was full of fresh fruit flesh and melon base, so it tasted different from an ordinary fresh-fruit juice and was good. The people at the next table had melon bingsu, and that looked delicious too haha. The coffee was clean and tasty.

My husband brought a book and I brought my laptop, but we ended up doing neither because we were too busy eating bread and looking at the view haha.

An even better garden café with children

After enjoying our bread and drinks inside, we slowly walked around the outdoor garden too. Every corner was carefully tended, so it was fun to explore, and there was also a sand play area for children on one side. Perhaps that's why there were quite a few young guests when I visited.

When you go to a café with a child, it can feel a little disappointing to just have a drink and leave, but this place looked great for families because you can explore the garden and play in the sand too. My husband and I slipped away for a weekday date before our child got out of school, and I regretted not bringing our son along haha.

I visited after hearing that Baedagol Bakery House was well known, and once I came, I realized it wasn't simply a huge café full of people. Beyond its spaciousness, the care put into every part of the garden and landscaping made it even more impressive. It's a place where you can enjoy delicious bread and drinks while spending unhurried time, so I would recommend it to anyone looking for an outing near Goyang with children or family 🙂
