In short

Baedagol Bakery House is a bakery café with a spacious garden near Wondang in Goyang, Gyeonggi. After visiting with friends on the weekend, I returned on a weekday to see the chrysanthemum garden, enjoy coffee and desserts by a second-floor window, and get some laptop work done. Garden view at Baedagol Bakery House in Wondang

When the weather gets nice, Baedagol Bakery House in Wondang is one of the regular cafés that always comes to mind. Its broad garden blooms with new flowers each season, so there is a slightly different view every time I visit. This time, I came with friends over the weekend, then went back again the very next day on a weekday.

Autumn arriving in the garden at Baedagol Bakery House

The hydrangeas and lilies were nearly finished, but newly planted chrysanthemums, green trees, and the higher sky showed that autumn had already arrived in the garden. Let me introduce Baedagol Bakery House, a Wondang café that is perfect for admiring flowers and taking a break on fine days like these.

A large Wondang café with easy parking

Baedagol Bakery House is a bakery café near Wondang in Goyang with a large garden. There are around 10 parking spaces in front of the café, plus a dedicated lot across the road with space for about 40 cars, so it is easy to visit by car. Lots of families and groups come on weekends, but the parking is relatively generous, which is why I find myself dropping by without much worry.

Once you park and walk in, the expansive garden is the first thing that opens up before you.

I had been coming here for the hydrangeas for a while, but this time most of the flowers had faded and many new chrysanthemums had been planted in their place. They were not yet in full bloom, but autumn color was appearing little by little among the green, making me even more excited for the view to come.

Lily garden with lingering fragrance

And this time, the lilies announced their presence with fragrance before the flowers did! They too were nearly at the end of their season, but their scent still lingered strongly enough to notice as soon as I entered.

A weekday atmosphere so different from the weekend

Café space busy with weekend visitors

The previous day, I had visited for a weekend get-together with friends, and it was so busy that the first and second floors, as well as the outdoor garden seats, were nearly full. But when I returned the very next day, the weekday atmosphere was definitely more relaxed.

The first floor has wide windows overlooking the garden, so you can enjoy the greenery even indoors. I usually use the first floor, but this time I went upstairs for the first time.

A different mood on the second floor

The second floor had a completely different feel from the first.

Further inside are two room-style spaces where you can stay a little more privately, and they looked great for families or small gatherings.

Above all, the garden seen from the second-floor terrace felt different again from the first floor. The flower-and-tree-filled garden came into view all at once, making it lovely to step outside for a moment and take in the scenery.

I visited a little later in the day on a weekday, took a window seat, had coffee and desserts, and got some laptop work done too. It had been so crowded on the weekend that finding a seat was difficult, but on a weekday it was much more relaxed and nice for a quiet stay.

From bakery items to seasonal desserts

This large Wondang café, Baedagol Bakery House, also has a wide variety of breads and desserts. There is everything from savory meal breads to cakes, along with plenty of drinks besides coffee.

I went a little late that day, so quite a lot of the breads had already sold out ㅜ

After the fresh mango season, it was now fresh melon dessert season, with lots of new melon menu items. The fresh melon Waururu latte/ade was ₩10,000, and the fresh mango Waururu snowflake bingsu was ₩25,000.

I ordered an Americano (₩6,000), chocolate cake, a bread filled with ham and cheese, and the seasonal fresh melon Waururu latte.

First of all, the fresh melon Waururu latte looked so pretty! It was piled high with fresh Korean-grown melon, so I could enjoy the fruit and drink together. The bright sweetness of the fresh melon paired better than expected with the smooth latte; it was not overly sweet, and the melon’s freshness made it a delicious seasonal drink.

Sweet, soft cake and a cup of coffee in the garden, with a cool breeze gently blowing through—I was properly healed, haha.

This lightly savory bread with ham and vegetables was perfect as a meal substitute too.

A Wondang café worth returning to in autumn

I loved the garden when it was full of hydrangeas, but Baedagol Bakery House in autumn, with chrysanthemums settling in one by one, was just as beautiful. Enjoying the garden at an easy pace on a weekday and getting some laptop work done made me feel that it is a place with a different charm every time I visit.
