What kind of café is Mini Male Gyodae Court Branch?

Hi, this is Prietteu ☕ I went to Mini Male Coffee Roaster Gyodae Court Branch! Being a Nordic-style café, both the desserts and the drinks have a clear Scandinavian concept, and looking around, that European feel was woven into every corner. Even the logo and little props were decorated with a really consistent sense of care 🖤

What desserts are on display at Mini Male?

The desserts at Mini Male Gyodae Court Branch are lined up neatly by type — scones, financiers, babka, and pound cakes. There's genuinely such a variety of desserts, and they all look so good, that it took me forever to pick ㅜ

Portuguese-style egg tarts on display

The chocolate babka and apple crumble financier caught my eye too, so I'm thinking I need to try those next time... Even familiar items like the Portuguese-style egg tart or orange pound cake are reinterpreted in the café's own style, which is a happy kind of dilemma...

Can you buy Mini Male's coffee beans by the bag?

Mini Male Gyodae Court Branch also sells beans on their own, and they had a good variety of cold brew and bottled drinks too. Personally, I tend to trust the coffee at cafés that sell their own beans directly, and this place earned that trust as well. There were detailed notes on the roasting origin for each bean, so you could really feel this is a brand that's serious about coffee. >_<

Things like the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe or the Colombia decaf came with detailed info on origin, growing altitude, and cupping notes, so picking a bag of beans seemed like it'd be its own kind of fun. I'm considering coming back just to buy beans next time!

Cookie gift set packaging on display
Drip bag gift set and bottled drinks lineup

Mini Male Gyodae Court Branch has dessert gift sets as well as drip bag gift sets, so it seemed like it'd come in handy whenever you need a gift. The cookie gift set lets you choose the quantity, and the packaging looked really neat, so I thought I'd buy one for a friend next time. Even the signature bottled drinks — Helsinki Latte, matcha latte, milk tea — have such stylish bottle designs that they'd make great gifts too!

Order screen at the kiosk

You can order at the kiosk, and this time I ordered a Helsinki Latte and a Victoria scone.

A cup of Helsinki Latte on the table

How does the Helsinki Latte taste?

Honestly, I didn't expect much from the Helsinki Latte, but it was genuinely delicious. It's labeled as their signature menu in big letters, so I was a bit skeptical, but yeah — signature items are signature for a reason...

Close-up of the cream in the Helsinki Latte

It's a milk-based drink with just a hint of sweetness and what seems like a heavy cream mixed in, and it was so good. It comes in smooth at first and leaves a subtle lingering finish, so I kept taking sip after sip. Apparently it's a signature drink inspired by a latte the owner happened to have in Helsinki?!

Victoria scone: how much jam and cream?

Time to unbox the Victoria scone too...

Unwrapping the Victoria scone

The strawberry jam and cream were in just the right amounts, so it was completely delicious. The scone itself had a crisp outside and fluffy inside, so the texture was great, and the jam-to-cream ratio felt just right too, balanced without leaning too far either way.

Cross-section of the scone filled with strawberry jam and cream

The tangy sweetness of the strawberry jam met the rich smoothness of the cream and gave a scone that could've been plain a real point of interest. It was satisfying enough visually that I wondered how much care could possibly go into a single scone.

Calm seating area of the café

Is Mini Male comfortable for coffee alone?

Mini Male Gyodae Court Branch has an overall calm, upscale feel, so it seemed like it'd suit both spending time alone at ease and chatting with a friend.

Sunlit window seat with a cup of coffee

Sitting by the window, watching the warm sunlight come in while sipping coffee, was healing all on its own. 🥹🫶🏻 If you're looking for a Nordic-vibe café near Gyodae, I strongly recommend Mini Male! Next time I visit, I want to try all the other kinds of desserts too.
