Solo sushi lunch set with mini udon in Dongnae, Busan: Moshi Moshi

I had an appointment at a Korean medicine clinic in Dongnae, and I'd planned my route to grab lunch beforehand. Trying to think of something light, clean, and tasty for a solo meal, I decided on the sushi set at Moshi Moshi Sushi, Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch — a well-known spot near the Dongnae Lotte Cinema.

Originally I was going to have sushi for lunch and then head straight to Lotte Cinema in the same building for a movie, but I'd already seen Spider-Man twice and also watched The Odyssey, so there wasn't really anything left I wanted to see. Sadly, I skipped the movie plan this time..!!

8th floor of Lotte Department Store Dongnae, easy to stop by before or after a movie

Moshi Moshi is located on the 8th floor of Lotte Department Store Dongnae, so it's great for grabbing lunch and heading straight to the movies — or eating right after a film, too. A large, easy-to-read menu board is posted right at the entrance. There's a wide variety of menu items, and a separate kids' menu is available too.

A spot that works for both solo diners and family meals

I've visited this Dongnae Lotte Cinema-area sushi favorite, Moshi Moshi Sushi, Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch, several times now, and it's always busy. Not just young people either — plenty of older customers come to eat alone too. The back area is set up as a private room space, marked as reserved seating. It's a cozy, nice spot for a family meal.

So what's in the sushi set?

A sushi set made for solo diners! With 8 pieces of sushi, 3 pieces of tempura, mini udon, salad, and tofu salad, it's a hearty and varied single-serving set.

If you want more sushi, you can also order extra pieces à la carte. There were other sets with more sushi pieces, but they didn't come with udon, so for eating alone, this sushi set — the right amount with a nice variety — seemed like the best choice!

Wow, the composition is great. Really varied and satisfying. Sushi, udon, and tempura, all in one..!!

8 pieces of sushi, especially the flounder sushi

I love flounder sushi. The flounder has a clean, firm texture, and the rice portion isn't excessive, so you can really taste the fish itself. The other pieces of sushi were clean and tasty too. Since the sushi is made to order in the open kitchen, it felt even fresher!

The mini udon broth is truly amazing

Wow, this place is actually an udon spot! The broth was so clean-tasting, yet somehow deep and rich — maybe thanks to the shiitake mushrooms in it. There was also a generous amount of tempura flakes and fried tofu pouch. The udon noodles were firm and chewy, not mushy at all. Even after I'd finished all the noodles, the broth was so good I kept spooning it up.

In a word, "that broth is amazing~"

3 kinds of tempura and my favorite tofu salad

The tempura was incredibly crispy too. It came with three kinds — shrimp tempura, sweet pumpkin tempura, and sweet potato tempura — and the sweet pumpkin tempura in particular was really, really good!

And every time I come to Moshi Moshi, this is genuinely my favorite item... the tofu salad...!!!! It's soft tofu topped generously with a sesame dressing? An incredibly nutty dressing poured all over it — this really is delicious.............👍

Why eating alone here felt so satisfying

After finishing this sushi set, I felt really satisfied — I'd eaten a nice variety of dishes, and I ended up pretty full too! It's a great menu for solo diners 😊

It's open every day except Lotte Department Store's regular closed days, so it's very convenient to visit, and being a restaurant inside a department store, it's definitely clean. I'd recommend Moshi Moshi Sushi, Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch, the sushi favorite near Dongnae Lotte Cinema, for a meal before or after catching a movie! Next time a good movie comes out, I'm planning to book tickets and come back here to eat again haha!
