Pyeongtaek café with a quiet reading annex: Cafe Pomun

In short

Cafe Pomun is a dessert café in Ichung-dong, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, with sunlit windows, baked treats, and a quiet annex. I tried the chestnut matcha chocolate cake, shaken iced Americano, and lemon madeleine. Verdict: Cafe Pomun is a lovely regular spot for a slow dessert-and-reading break.

When I want to step away from everyday life for a moment, soak up some warm sunshine, and take it easy, one place comes to mind first. It is Cafe Pomun, my regular café in Ichung-dong, Pyeongtaek. The space itself has so much charm, and the drink and baked-goods lineup is so satisfying that I often find myself here on weekends or weekday afternoons. This time, too, I had a wonderfully restorative time with carefully made desserts.

A sunlit space with floor-to-ceiling windows and a terrace

Cafe Pomun has a first floor, second floor, and a separately arranged annex. Above all, the abundant light streaming through its floor-to-ceiling windows is so lovely that the moment you walk in, you feel cozy and refreshed. On a nice day, I also recommend sitting on the first-floor terrace and enjoying the gentle breeze.

Shakerato and baked treats

The menu has such a wide variety of drinks, and I was especially delighted to see shakerato, which is not something you come across very often. The dessert zone is filled with delicious, golden-baked treats such as canelés, financiers, and madeleines, sure to catch any dessert lover’s eye.

Head up to the second floor and a wide, bright, pretty view opens up outside the windows. Various seating styles are thoughtfully arranged, so it is easy to settle into a comfortable spot that suits your party size or preference.

Chestnut matcha chocolate cake and shaken coffee

Here is the full spread of desserts and drinks we ordered that day. From the substantial-looking chestnut matcha chocolate cake to the refreshing iced Americano and golden lemon madeleine, everything raised expectations from the look alone.

Chestnut matcha chocolate cake

This is the chestnut matcha chocolate cake. From the first bite, the sweetness of rich chocolate and matcha’s distinctive pleasantly bitter aroma stand out across your palate. It is a substantial, polished dessert in which the ingredients’ natural flavors come through beautifully.

Iced Americano with a soft foam layer

The iced Americano here is served after being carefully shaken. This creates a soft layer of foam on top, making it much smoother to drink, and it cleanses the palate nicely alongside sweet cake.

A light lemon madeleine

This lemon madeleine has a fresh aroma that lifts your mood, too. Its lightly crisp exterior and moist interior are both wonderfully intact, making it an easy, cheerful baked treat to enjoy.

A comfort corner with blankets and Wi-Fi

This is the thoughtfully prepared convenience area on one side of the café. Cozy blankets, chilled water, and fast, reliable Wi-Fi are all well provided, adding to the comfort throughout your stay.

A quiet annex that is perfect for reading alone

The annex, in the building beside the main café, is Cafe Pomun’s hidden-gem space. Unlike the main building, it has a cozy, quiet atmosphere, making it an absolutely perfect place to sit by the window and leisurely read a book with a cup of tea.

Cafe Pomun is more than simply a spacious, pretty place; care comes through in every menu item. The combination of its varied coffees and delicious baked treats, including madeleines, canelés, and financiers, leaves me thoroughly satisfied every time I visit. From the large dedicated parking lot and sunlit floor-to-ceiling windows to the first-floor terrace and quiet annex for reading alone, each space has its own appeal, so it is great no matter whom you visit with. Thoughtful amenities such as blankets and Wi-Fi stand out, too. If you want a relaxed, special dessert time in Ichung-dong, Pyeongtaek, I highly recommend stopping by Cafe Pomun, my absolute favorite regular café.
