Grown-out perm fix at ONLY FOR YOU, a Hannam-dong hair salon

I'm honestly pretty low-maintenance about my hair, so I don't visit salons often, but it had been ages and I wanted to change things up, so I went to ONLY FOR YOU, a Hannam-dong hair salon! A friend recommended it as a place that's great at medium-length layered perms. Here's my review.

Take the elevator up to the 3rd floor of the building and ONLY FOR YOU Hannam Main Branch is right there on your right.

The interior of this Hannam-dong hair salon had a sleek white-and-black feel! Once you walk in, a staff member greets you, takes your coat and belongings, and while you wait on the sofa on the right, your designer comes over to introduce themselves.

For a Hannam-dong hair salon, the prices were surprisingly reasonable! I felt like I could change up my style without much of a burden 💇🏻‍♀️

The consultation that settled on a medium-length layered perm

Designer Lee Hyun was assigned to me. Before starting, she looked over the vibe I wanted, reference photos, my usual clothing style, and overall atmosphere, and helped steer me toward the style that would actually suit me best! Thanks to her, I ended up going with a medium-length layered perm — a version of what I originally wanted, adjusted to fit me better.

Seats and drink service at ONLY FOR YOU Hannam

The seats are incredibly comfortable. You're stuck in the chair for at least a few hours at a salon, and an uncomfortable chair makes that so much worse, right? ㅠㅠ At ONLY FOR YOU Hannam Main Branch, the cushy chair plus drink and snack service made me feel like I could sit for hours without any issue!

I ordered an iced tea. They even thoughtfully put a lid on it so no hair would fall in :)

A perm left for a year: starting with the cut

My hair, untouched since a bob perm a year ago..! There was still a lot of leftover perm texture in there. With so much damage, I decided against long hair and went with a medium-length layered perm instead 😀

The cut was done with so much care! She sectioned the hair, did a first pass of trimming, thinned out the volume, and carefully layered it all. I'd told her I wanted hair that's easy to manage, and she cut it with exactly that in mind — easy care, easy styling.

How the layered perm and flyaway smoothing went

Now on to prepping for the perm.

She rolled the lower sections of my hair, connected each rod to the machine one by one, and I waited about 30–40 minutes.

You can see the perm set in nicely, haha. Originally only the layered perm was planned, but she added a flyaway-smoothing treatment on top for easier styling 👼🏻

The medium-length layered perm result

Drumroll. Here's the final result of the medium-length layered perm! My frizzy, unruly hair is so much calmer now, with a really autumn-appropriate feel 🍂 The style comes across even better on video!

She also paid a lot of attention to my bangs and face-framing pieces, and I think they turned out really pretty 🤍☺️

She walked me through hair care and blow-drying tips in detail, even showing me how to roll it nicely with a roller — kind enough that it made me want to take better care of my hair going forward 🤭
