Gangnam Japanese restaurant with futomaki and innards pasta: Momiji

In short

Momiji Seolleung Branch is a Japanese izakaya on the 3rd floor of Hoseong Building, a short walk from Seolleung Station in Gangnam, Seoul, where every seat is inside a private room. We ordered the lobster sashimi at 58,000 won and a half roll of futomaki at 16,000 won, and the most memorable part was how the kitchen turned the leftover lobster innards into pasta. Momiji Seolleung suits a team dinner or a date where you want a quiet room and sashimi done properly.

I was looking for an izakaya with good vibes near Seolleung Station when I found Momiji Seolleung Branch. The menu covers sashimi, yakitori, nabe, and futomaki, so I had a hard time deciding, but this time I went a little special with lobster sashimi and futomaki. What I loved most, though, was how private the whole space felt!

Where is Momiji Seolleung Branch, and is there parking?

Momiji Seolleung Branch is located on the 3rd floor of Hoseong Building, 43 Samseong-ro 85-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. There's no parking available.

It's within walking distance from Seolleung Station, so access is pretty convenient. The restaurant sits on the 3rd floor of the building, and every seat is set up as a private room, so you're completely separated from other tables. I thought it would be a great spot for a quiet conversation over dinner, a date, a team dinner, or any kind of gathering near Seolleung Station.

Momiji Seolleung Branch menu and prices

Momiji has a pretty wide menu ranging from sashimi to grilled dishes, nabe (hot pot), skewers, and rice dishes. What I ordered that day was the lobster sashimi and a half roll of futomaki.

Lobster sashimi, 58,000 won, with innards pasta

The dish I was most looking forward to that day was definitely the lobster sashimi! Eating lobster raw isn't that common, but tasting it, the texture was better than I expected. The flesh had a springy yet chewy quality that felt quite different from your typical fish sashimi. The real highlight, though, is that it doesn't end with the sashimi — once you finish the lobster, they turn the leftover innards into pasta!

At first I thought, 'Lobster sashimi... and pasta too?' but it turned out to be a real gem. The rich, savory flavor of the lobster innards blended into the pasta so well that it felt like a completely different dish from the sashimi. Ordering just one menu item but getting to enjoy it twice — once as sashimi, once as pasta — was honestly the part that stuck with me the most.

We also ordered futomaki (Japanese-style thick sashimi roll) alongside the sashimi. Futomaki is packed thick with various ingredients, so it's quite large — almost too big for one bite. Sashimi alone can feel a little plain, but adding futomaki gave us more variety in texture and made the meal more filling. Since it has so many ingredients packed in at once, it was great to alternate between it and the sashimi.

Is Momiji Seolleung good for a team dinner or a date?

Overall, I thought it was a solid place to properly enjoy sashimi in a quiet setting. What I liked most was that, being private rooms, you don't have to worry much about the tables around you, and the food felt more thoughtfully prepared than typical drinking snacks. Among everything, what satisfied me most that day was definitely the lobster sashimi-to-innards-pasta combo. Instead of just throwing away the leftover lobster after the sashimi, they use even the innards to make pasta — it was both fun and a genuinely different flavor experience.

Would I go back to Momiji Seolleung? Yes

Next time, I'd like to try the seasonal assorted sashimi or the kushiyaki (skewered grilled dishes) I didn't get to this time. After trying the lobster sashimi, I'm now curious about the other sashimi options too. If you want to enjoy sashimi or izakaya dishes near Seolleung Station while still caring about the atmosphere, this is worth a visit! I think I'll be back for other menu items next time!! Recommended for anyone looking for a private-room izakaya for a team dinner or a date.
