Gangneung pension with elevator access, no car needed: Your Anmok 401

In short

Your Anmok (당신의안목펜션) is an ocean-view pension-style stay right in front of Anmok Beach in Gangneung. One bus from Gangneung Station or Gangneung Bus Terminal reaches Your Anmok, and because the building has an elevator, Room 401 worked well for a car-free trip with mom, with a spa tub and cooking equipment in the room. At around 100,000 won in the off-season for an ocean view plus a spa tub, Your Anmok is a satisfying choice.

Why a car-free traveler chose Your Anmok at Anmok Beach

Once again, this Gangneung trip came together suddenly haha🤗 I'm a car-free traveler, but I didn't want to give up an ocean view either, so I went looking for a well-priced, good-condition pension on Anmok Beach — and found Your Anmok, Anmok branch! There are two Your Anmok locations, Anmok and Jumunjin, so double-check the branch when you book✨️

Your Anmok's Anmok branch is only one bus away from Gangneung Station or Gangneung Bus Terminal, so it's a very accessible Gangneung stay even without a car! There's also a private parking space right next door, so it works well too if you're driving or renting a car🚗

There are rooms across floors 3 to 5, and the one I booked was Room 401😘 Hotel-style places usually have elevators, but pensions are often standalone units or 2–3 story buildings without one, so since I was staying with my mom, I picked Your Anmok specifically because it has an elevator!

Inside Room 401: condition and the ocean view

The ocean view🌊 made me gasp the moment I walked in. I checked in around 3:30 and shot this in natural light with the lights off! Sometimes the actual place looks different from the website photos, but this one matched exactly😲❣️

The bedding was soft and just the right weight, and there was an outlet right next to the bed, which was convenient!

Bathroom and amenities at Your Anmok: what to pack

A clean bathroom✨️ Disposable toothbrush, toothpaste, and soap were ready, plus shampoo/conditioner/body wash! There's no shower towel, so bring a disposable one or grab one at a convenience store🤓

What a spa tub adds to a car-free Gangneung trip

The reason I, a car-free traveler, chose Your Anmok! Along with the ocean view of the clear East Sea at Anmok Beach, the spa tub was a big factor🛁 After walking a lot during a car-free trip, I wanted to wash away all that accumulated fatigue with a spa foot soak😆

There were towels in various sizes too! For two people: 4 basic towels, 2 large body towels good for using with the spa tub, and a floor-size towel handy for stepping out of the tub or shower. Plus a hairdryer and an adjustable mirror made it easy to dry hair and do makeup🤗

Simple cooking in the room, thanks to the pension setup

A table for two and a mini fridge — inside were 2 bottles of cold water! There's an outlet next to the table too, so you can sit and dry your hair or use your phone while eating. Nice!

Your Anmok's Anmok branch isn't a regular hotel but a pension-style stay, so simple cooking is possible!! There's a pot you can use on the induction stove, plus a cutting board, knife, scissors, tongs, ladle😲 and plates, soup/rice bowls all well prepared — great for eating takeout or delivery food. You can also rent a Ziegler grill for a fee, so you could grill seafood🦐 from Gangneung Jungang Market with some meat🥩!

There's also a microwave, handy for reheating leftovers the next day or warming up takeout that's gone a bit cold! It's tucked under the table though, so you have to be a bit flexible haha🫠 There's a kettle too — I didn't use it since there's a convenience store just 1 minute away, but it's nice to have more than not!

An evening walk and sunset on Anmok Beach, right outside

After a late lunch, I went out for a walk on the beach! It's right in front of the stay, so it was easy to pop in and out👣 At night, if the lights are on inside, the room can be seen from outside, so be sure to close the curtains or switch to indirect lighting👀✨️

Don't miss the beach walk at sunset either!

Sunset-lit scenery along the Anmok Beach walk

I timed my walk to end around sunset and came back to the room! I wanted to watch the sun go down from inside, but it suddenly clouded over a bit and I missed the actual sunset😵 Still, just watching the sky slowly shift from pink to blue to purple and then black was so calming🫶

While looking up Your Anmok stays to book, I saw a lot of talk about this structure, but I didn't find it distracting at all👀💦 It wasn't as bright at night as I expected, and with all the lights off it almost creates a mood-lighting (?) effect. Once it got dark, people came out for night walks and set off fireworks, so I got to enjoy someone else's fireworks show from the room, and I filled the tub for the spa!

What to know before using the Room 401 spa tub

Check the video for how loud it gets while filling😊 It's a regular tub size so it filled up quickly, which was nice! There are separate hot and cold levers, so you need to check and adjust the temperature partway through filling.♨️

  • Two adults can fit in together, but it's a bit cozy, so couples are fine, but if you're with a friend I'd recommend just a foot soak🤗ㅋㅋㅋ
  • Since the tub is white, no glittery or dark-colored bath products🙅‍♀️
  • Pressing the spa button makes a fairly loud noise that carries to the next room, so avoid using it after 10 PM🙅‍♀️

Watching the Anmok Beach sunrise from bed

Since I was sad about missing yesterday's sunset, I set an alarm to make sure I caught the sunrise, and this is what I saw when I opened my eyes😖❣️

Half sunrise blocked by clouds over the East Sea

Clouds blocked the rising sun so it was only a half sunrise🌅, but the sound of the waves came through even more clearly in the early-morning silence — it was a quiet, wonderful time🌊 Being able to enjoy this moment lying down, without even stepping outside, thanks to the ocean-view room, was truly the best part!

It's not as good as hearing it in person, but let's feel that early-morning mood together🎧 There's a window you can open, so I fell asleep and woke up listening to the vivid sound of the waves✨️

Listening to the waves relaxed me so much I fell back asleep for a bit, and then the warm, almost hot sunlight woke me back up💦 They really weren't kidding about the sun being what strips the traveler's coat off🌞

Checking out for a late brunch, I looked down at the sunlight shimmering on Anmok Beach — a delightful moment right up to the very end🥳

Is Your Anmok worth it? Overall verdict

An Anmok Beach pension with both an ocean view and a spa tub! In Gangneung, basically a mecca for car-free travelers, this is a two-in-one stay — it washes away the fatigue from a day of sightseeing while keeping that ocean view too🤗 Being right by Anmok Beach made it easy to come and go anytime👍

Unlike other beaches, Anmok Beach is built up as Anmok Coffee Street, so even while walking along the shore🌊, the surrounding buildings didn't spoil the view! Usually at the beach I end up hunting for oceanview restaurants or cafés, but since the room itself has an ocean view, I felt totally fine spending the whole day there — I never missed having an oceanview seat at a restaurant or café🥰

Who Your Anmok suits best

  • Anyone looking for a good-value oceanview stay in Gangneung — low 100,000s won in off-season, no burden on the wallet!
  • Anyone who wants a clean, well-kept place with an ocean view✨️
  • Anyone who loves a foot soak or a full soak in the tub — the spa tub makes it a choice you won't regret😎

The perk of an oceanview stay! Eat and drink coffee right in the room and you won't need or miss an oceanview restaurant or café😘 Just make the most of takeout/delivery in the room💦 Even spending the whole day there just staring at the sea, time will fly by! If you're looking for a Gangneung stay, Your Anmok🤗🌊
