Black pork geun-gogi grilled over charcoal
Once the charcoal fire came out, we were fully ready to eat black pork! An Aewol black pork restaurant like this really needs to grill over charcoal to taste right.

When the thick cuts of black pork went on, the visuals alone were on point.

The black pork was cut into easy-to-eat pieces and grilled to a golden brown over charcoal. Thick meat like this made me anticipate a juicy bite — a proper Aewol black pork experience. And honestly, having the staff grill it for us was so convenient.

The golden-brown black pork was crisp outside and moist inside!! True to an Aewol black pork restaurant, it was thick enough to give a satisfying chew.

Pickled radish, perilla-scallion wraps and salted seafood
Topping the black pork with radish pickle and fresh salad made it clean and delicious. It really let the savory juiciness of the meat shine through, as you'd expect from Aewol black pork.

You can't skip putting a piece of black pork on top of rice either. It's thick enough that even one piece filled my mouth satisfyingly.

Wrapping black pork with scallion in a perilla leaf was a whole different treat! The combination kept going down without any greasiness.

I also dipped it in the salted seafood (jeotgal). It felt worth seeking out this Aewol black pork spot, being able to enjoy so many different combinations.

Finishing with a hearty doenjang jjigae
At the end, we finished with a hot stew alongside the meal. The generous ingredients and spicy broth paired really well with the black pork.

Above all, the doenjang jjigae was packed with ingredients, making it a satisfying way to wrap up the meal.
