Split-pot mala and beef hotpot at Ganbame, a bar in Busanjin, Busan
In short
Ganbame (간밤에) is a late-night bar in the alleys near Jeonpo Station in Busanjin, Busan, open until 4am. On a weekday night at 9pm, two friends ordered the half-and-half hotpot at 29,900 won, with beef broth on one side and mala on the other, plus a raw beef and aged kimchi roll at 18,900 won. Since the mala was too spicy for one of them, each kept to the broth they liked — Ganbame works well for two people with different spice tolerances.

Today I want to share my visit to Ganbame, a bar I checked out with a friend in Jeonpo-dong, Busan, haha. We ordered the half-and-half hotpot, which lets you enjoy beef hotpot and mala hotpot together, plus a raw beef and aged kimchi roll. The food suited my taste really well, and the owner's thoughtful service stuck with me too. Let me walk you through what we ate and the vibe of the place!
Where is Ganbame in Jeonpo, and what are its hours?

- Hours Mon–Fri: 18:00 – 4:00 the next day (last order 3:00)
- Hours Sat–Sun: 17:00 – 4:00 the next day (last order 3:00)
- Directions: Exit 8 of Jeonpo Station, loop around to the alley where you'll see a Paris Baguette across the street, walk about 200m in — it's right next to Kim Bok-nam Beer.

From outside, the round Ganbame sign catches your eye first. The wood-toned exterior and warm lighting suited it well. There was a menu board by the entrance too, so we could check out what they served before going in.

What Ganbame is like at 9pm on a weeknight
Inside, Ganbame is decorated with wood tables and warm tones. We visited around 9pm on a weekday, and it was nearly full when I got there. I liked the atmosphere — it's an open kitchen so you can see everything inside, and it was a great spot to spend time chatting with a friend over food, haha.
We ordered two dishes: the half-and-half hotpot for ₩29,900 and the raw beef aged kimchi roll for ₩18,900. The half-and-half hotpot lets you share beef hotpot and mala hotpot from one pot. I liked being able to try both broths at once!

First came the basic side dish — tofu topped with bonito flakes. It was nice to nibble on while we waited for our food.

Another thing that stuck with me was the owner's kindness. As soon as we walked in, they showed us to our seats, and when we hesitated over where to put our bags, they brought us a basket to store them in. So our bags went right into the basket, swish! (Whether I actually zipped mine shut... that's a secret...)
Half-and-half hotpot at Ganbame: mala on one side, beef broth on the other

The half-and-half hotpot arrived first. It came in a pot divided down the middle, holding two broths, with the beef and vegetables prepared separately. Even the color of the broths was different, which made comparing the two flavors fun.

My friend ordered a zero-sugar cola, and I ordered soju. They brought a cup of ice along with the cola too, so my friend and I each grabbed our drink and cheered, haha.
Now it was time to add the vegetables and meat and let it simmer. Doesn't the bubbling pot just look delicious? We chatted over the warm hotpot as it cooked.
Once we tried it, the mala side was a bit spicy for my friend. So I ended up taking charge of the mala side, haha. I enjoyed it, but it showed how differently people can feel the heat from the same broth. My friend mostly ate from the beef hotpot side, and I mostly ate from the mala side — the half-and-half setup worked out well for us.
Raw beef and aged kimchi roll, eaten with the sauce

The second dish was the raw beef aged kimchi roll. It looked pretty just laid out neatly on the plate. You could see the raw beef in the cross-section, so I picked up a piece and took a photo, haha.

This dish suited my taste better with the sauce that came alongside it. Eating it plain versus dipping it in the sauce felt totally different, and I preferred the combination with the sauce. It might be worth comparing a bite of each way first and going with whatever suits your taste. Alternating between the warm hotpot and the raw beef roll was also fun, haha.
The review-event ice cream at the end

That day I also took part in a Naver review event and got ice cream. It came topped with chocolate sauce and crushed cookie crumbs. After eating the mala hotpot, the cold, sweet ice cream was especially welcome, haha. It was the perfect way to cleanse the palate after the meal, and we finished off nicely with a tasty dessert!

Before we knew it, we'd emptied every plate... ahaha. The half-and-half hotpot was great because we could each pick the broth that suited our taste, and the raw beef aged kimchi roll paired well with the sauce. Beyond the food, the atmosphere and the little touches in the service stuck with me too.
A day spent enjoying the half-and-half hotpot, the raw beef aged kimchi roll, and even the review-event ice cream with a friend! Oh, and they show baseball on screen too, so it could be a great Jeonpo baseball bar to visit during a game! If I ever have another date in Jeonpo-dong, I'd love to go back and pay with my own money, haha. If you're looking for a place in Jeonpo to enjoy hearty broths and raw beef dishes together, hopefully our combo gives you some ideas!
