Seoul octopus restaurant in Magok: minari wraps at Songjjujip Magok
In short
Songjjujip Magok is a webfoot octopus (jjukkumi) restaurant on the 2nd floor of Central Tower 2, about 263 meters from Exit 1 of Magoknaru Station in Gangseo, Seoul. On a weekend visit at 5pm, two servings of octopus sarimongttang (18,800 won each, with minari, cabbage and pork belly) and a cheese fried rice went down well, and the default spice level — billed as Shin Ramyun level but slightly hotter — was just right wrapped in perilla leaf, seaweed, bean sprouts and chives. The minari-packed sarimongttang and the snow-cheese fried rice finish make Songjjujip Magok an easy pick near Magoknaru Station.

I'm the type who needs a regular octopus transfusion haha, so I usually go back to the same spot whenever the craving hits. This time, though, I tried a new webfoot octopus restaurant near Magoknaru Station instead of my usual place!
The sauce was clean and tasty without being too intense, and the finishing snow cheese fried rice was so good that I really want to recommend this as a top octopus spot near Magoknaru Station 🤍

Today's spot is Songjjujip Magok, a restaurant near Magoknaru Station. It's about 263 meters from Exit 1 of Magoknaru Station.

Since it's close to Magoknaru Station, it's a great pick whether you're looking for somewhere to eat after work or heading out for octopus on the weekend.
Inside Songjjujip Magok at 5pm on a weekend: seating and mood

The inside of Songjjujip Magok had quite a lot of tables. I visited around 5pm on a weekend, and at first only about 2 tables were eating.
By around 6pm, customers started coming in one after another until nearly every table was full. Seeing how busy it got as dinner time approached, I figured this must be a well-known octopus spot near Magoknaru Station haha.
With so many tables available, it's a great place to visit with friends or family, or in a bigger group for octopus!

What we ordered at Songjjujip Magok and the default spice level
- Octopus sarimongttang, 2 servings
- Cheese fried rice ₩3,500
We ordered the default spice level, which is advertised as being about as spicy as Shin Ramyun. (To me it felt a bit spicier than Shin Ramyun.) For those who want it spicier, you can request a change by calling staff through the button at the bottom of the order machine.
Songjjujip Magok side dishes and how to wrap the octopus

Once you order, a variety of side dishes come out. Perilla leaves, seaweed, flying fish roe, chives, bean sprouts, sauce, salad, cold seaweed soup, and white kimchi! These are all great to pair with octopus, so you can mix and match to your taste.

When the staff brought out the side dishes, they also personally explained the best way to eat it: put seaweed on top of a perilla leaf, add bean sprouts and chives, then top it all with octopus.
Octopus sarimongttang review: the pork belly was good too

Songjjujip Magok's octopus sarimongttang (₩18,800) is loaded not just with octopus but also pork belly, minari, and cabbage. Highly recommend the sarimongttang menu!!! ⭐️
The cabbage turns sweet as it cooks, and the minari has a great aroma without being tough — it goes really well with the octopus, honestly ㅠㅠㅜㅜ

Surprisingly, what I liked most was the pork belly! I usually prefer octopus-only dishes because when I order octopus with pork belly, I often can't taste the pork belly at all — but here the pork belly was genuinely tasty, so I was glad I ordered the sarimongttang ☺️ If you want to enjoy octopus and pork belly together, try the sarimongttang!
We waited a bit for the ingredients to cook through.

Stir-frying away ~~~~

Once it was fully cooked and I tried it, the octopus was chewy and springy with absolutely no fishy taste!!!! The sauce wasn't too harsh either — clean and delicious ⭐️
The sauce was well soaked into the octopus, so the more I chewed, the more spicy and savory it got.

How spicy is Songjjujip Magok's default spice level?
They said the default spice level is about like Shin Ramyun, but when I actually ate it, it felt a bit spicier than Shin Ramyun to me. Eating it wrapped up with perilla leaf, seaweed, bean sprouts, and chives really toned down the spiciness and made it just right haha.

Piling a generous amount of minari onto a piece of octopus adds its distinctive fragrant flavor, which makes it even tastier.
The cheese rice cakes mixed in were also chewy and nutty. Eating them together with the spicy octopus sauce added a nutty richness that made them a real treat! There were so many ways to eat it that I never got tired of it the whole meal haha.
Cheese fried rice finish, half topped with flying fish roe
To finish, of course, fried rice! I was already stuffed, but there's no way you can eat octopus without finishing with fried rice haha (honestly I basically eat the octopus just so I can get to the octopus fried rice...). I was torn between flying fish roe fried rice and cheese fried rice, and ended up ordering the cheese fried rice.
The owner thoughtfully noticed there was some leftover flying fish roe and made it half flying fish roe, half cheese for me! Since the cheese was snow cheese, it was nutty and soft — genuinely delicious 🤤

Fried rice with the octopus sauce soaked right in!!! Piled high with cheese, it was sooooo nutty that I kept eating even though I was already full haha.
You have to try the fried rice at Songjjujip Magok! Personally, I highly recommend the cheese fried rice 🤍

After finishing the meal, there's even a coffee vending machine ready! Ending a spicy octopus meal with a sweet mocha coffee makes for a happy finish all the way to the end~~
Overall verdict on Songjjujip Magok
Since I'm the type who needs a regular octopus transfusion, I went looking for a new octopus spot near Magoknaru Station, and Songjjujip Magok is one I'd highly recommend!
- Close to Exit 1 of Magoknaru Station
- Plenty of tables, great for group visits
- Sauce is clean and not too intense
- Recommend the sarimongttang loaded with minari and cabbage
- The finishing cheese fried rice is a must-eat
Rather than eating octopus alone, I preferred the sarimongttang with pork belly, minari, and cabbage all together. And the cheese fried rice at the end was truly a highlight! With the snow cheese on top, it's nutty and soft, and it pairs so well with the octopus sauce that I kept eating even when I was full haha.
If you're like me and need a regular octopus transfusion, or if you're looking for a new octopus spot in Magok, Songjjujip Magok is worth a visit. Recommended for anyone looking for a good restaurant near Magoknaru Station, or specifically an octopus restaurant near Magoknaru Station 🤍
