Is there a wait at lunch? Why dinner needs a reservation

This time I timed my visit for lunch, and fortunately I was seated right away with no wait at all.

Actually, on my previous dinner visit, I remember being surprised that the seats filled up completely the moment it hit 6pm.

If you're planning a dinner meetup or a peak-time visit, it's much safer to book ahead through Naver Reservation or Catch Table.

The area where the chef carves the duck right in front of you is fun to watch, and the whole restaurant felt clean and spacious with no cramped feeling. It's a fine spot for a date, but it also works well for a smart company dinner or a family gathering.

What we ordered at Gang's Duck

The Peking duck comes out neatly sliced, roasted crisp on the outside and juicy inside.

Pile the warm pancake wrap with skin, meat, scallion strips, and cucumber strips, dip it in the special sauce, and your mouth fills with savory richness.

Compared with the Peking duck I ate in China not long ago, the quality here was good enough that the flavor and crispiness didn't fall behind at all.

Garlic fried rice, 12,000 won

Every single grain of rice was coated and fluffy, like it was flying off the pan — the textbook definition of fried rice.

The savory garlic aroma, bits of meat, and crunchy garlic chips all come together for a flavor that's rich but never greasy.

It's the perfect pairing to eat alongside the Peking duck.

Chili shrimp, 19,000 won

Plump, hefty shrimp come out generously coated in a sweet and spicy chili sauce.

The batter has a chewy bite that's satisfying to eat, and pairing it with the crisp lettuce kept it tasty all the way through without getting tiresome.

Verdict and tips for visiting Gang's Duck

Following my last visit, this revisit was another complete success.

This is a place where you can enjoy proper Peking duck that rivals the real thing, along with fried rice full of that smoky wok flavor, all at a reasonable price — I know I'll be back again soon.

Seats fill up fast on weekends and evenings, so I'd definitely recommend booking ahead for a dinner visit, and if you're driving, don't forget the tip of parking at Suwon City Hall and walking the short distance over.
