I went looking for a Western restaurant in Haeundae with a bit of a special atmosphere, and that's how I ended up at Bueokgan Haeundae Branch. This isn't just a place where you eat and leave — from the moment you walk in, there's real fun in just looking around the space. The interior, styled after a British vintage classic hotel, was especially striking. The food is great, but honestly the upscale atmosphere would make this perfect for a date or a special-occasion meal too, so I wanted to share it!

Bueokgan Haeundae Branch sits up on Dalmaji-gil (Dalmaji Pass)! The whole building operates as a kind of Bueokgan universe (?), so the exterior looks really pretty too. It used to be a bathhouse, so you can spot it right away by the old bathhouse pillars still standing.

Parking is available in front of the store and along the roadside across from it, as well as beside Café de Bueok and in the parking lot behind the building.

The first thing that caught my eye at Bueokgan Haeundae Branch was, of course, the interior. It's styled to evoke a vintage British classic hotel, so the whole space feels upscale. And it's not just a vintage vibe for show — every piece of furniture and every prop draws your attention, because apparently everything in the store is directly imported vintage furniture. So even while eating, I kept finding myself looking around.

The tables, chairs, and even the decorations felt slightly different in mood from spot to spot, so it was like browsing a vintage furniture shop or wandering through a classic hotel. The photos we took here definitely had a different vibe than a typical Western restaurant, so if you care about atmosphere as much as the food when looking for a Haeundae restaurant, this one really fits.

The menu includes pasta, pilaf, pizza, and various other Western dishes. You can pick according to your taste, and it's a great setup for ordering a pasta and a rice dish together to share.

How the shrimp anchovy pasta and kungpao chicken pilaf tasted

That day we ordered the shrimp anchovy pasta, kungpao chicken pilaf, grapefruit ade, and iced coffee.

The drinks came out first. We ordered grapefruit ade and iced coffee. The grapefruit ade had a nice refreshing tang, great alongside the food — a sip between bites of pasta or pilaf really cleaned the palate. The iced coffee was, personally, a bit on the weak side. If you like your coffee strong and bitter you might find it thin, but it went down easy as a light drink after the meal.

The pasta was loaded with shrimp and looked delicious even before the first bite, with that distinctly salty, savory anchovy flavor coming through. Eating the shrimp with the noodles let the shrimp's clean taste meet the anchovy's umami, and it had a different charm from a cream or tomato sauce pasta. Of everything we ordered that day, the shrimp anchovy pasta was personally the most memorable.

For the rice dish we ordered the kungpao chicken pilaf. The chicken pieces were seriously huge, and paired with the pasta it made for a really filling meal. It had a different flavor direction from the pasta, so it was great to alternate between the two, and there was plenty of chicken to eat alongside the rice all the way through.

Look at that size?!? There was a slight smoky char to it, it wasn't too salty, had a nice savory depth, and the garlic aroma was really good too.

With an upscale interior styled after a British vintage classic hotel, plus directly imported vintage furniture and props, it felt completely different from a typical Western restaurant. Both dishes we ordered — the shrimp anchovy pasta and the kungpao chicken pilaf — were solidly enjoyable, and adding the grapefruit ade rounded the meal out nicely.
