Ordering three cold noodle dishes at Chilseong Jemyeonso in Seongbok-dong

Today I went to Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji Main Branch, a noodle restaurant in Seongbok-dong. Unlike a typical noodle place, they have a whopping 33 menu items, so it took forever just to pick something haha. I went with my sister — after running, we were craving cold noodles, so we ordered three kinds of cold noodles! Every dish was good quality! Thumbs up.

Why we came here after the Everland family run

My sister's company organized a family run event on the Everland circuit and gathered up the employees, so I went along. I'd done a 10k once before, so I figured I'd manage somehow — but the uphill sections were legendary, to the point that just finishing felt like an achievement..

It was way too hot, so we said let's eat cold noodles to cool down! and stopped by Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji Main Branch. It was my first time in Seongbok-dong, and the neighborhood was really clean.

Chilseong Jemyeonso, the noodle restaurant in Seongbok-dong, sells a whopping 33 noodle dishes! They seem to sell kongguksu (chilled soybean noodle soup) seasonally too, though it wasn't available when we visited, ㅜ.ㅜ. They also had menu items like bibimbap and pork cutlet. There seemed to be quite a wait since I noticed a Catch Table waitlist tablet at the entrance! Looks like a local favorite among Seongbok-dong residents.

There was an interesting Instagram event too — follow and write a review and they give you a cup.. I couldn't do it since I was there as part of a sponsored visit, but it seemed pretty good. The menu was really varied — there were set meals with pork cutlet and noodles together, and even gukbap (soup with rice)! There was even tteokbokki. It's kind of wild how many menus they manage to run ㄷㄷ the mazesoba udon looked delicious too..

Inside the restaurant and baby tableware

The restaurant itself was spacious, so it looked great for families to visit, and I noticed they'd carefully prepared things like baby dishware too! By the way, what tableware do they use here.. the cutlery just looks elegant and pretty for no reason.

Chogye guksu 13,500 won: icy broth and shredded chicken

Being noodles, it came out fast after ordering! Chogye guksu topped with soft shredded chicken! The noodles were quite chewy, and the icy broth was refreshingly tangy and delicious! Mustard also came on the side so you could add it to taste. The cucumber flavor was so refreshing I finished it in one go.. this menu was worth recommending.

Aqua pork cutlet soba set 16,500 won: springy soba and freshly fried cutlet

And the soba aqua pork cutlet set! I basically can't pass by any place that has aqua pork cutlet or salad pork cutlet haha. The soba noodles were nice and chewy, and dipping them in the cold, icy tsuyu was delicious — grated radish and wasabi came on the side so you could add to taste! I felt the noodle quality here was really solid. A lot of the menu items seemed like they wouldn't be too polarizing either!

And the aqua pork cutlet came piled high with vegetables haha, perfect for filling that veggie deficit. It was drizzled with a salty oriental-dressing-style soy sauce that made it taste fresh and savory! The cutlet was hot and freshly fried too, which was nice.

Fresh kimchi bibim guksu 9,500 won: spicy, tangy sauce

And the fresh kimchi bibim guksu! It's topped with cabbage, cucumber, kimchi, perilla leaf and other garnishes, and you just mix all the toppings together — this sauce was really tasty too!! The kimchi was good, the noodles were chewy, and the spicy-tangy flavor totally revived my appetite, which was satisfying.

Three bowls for two, finished in 20 minutes: is it worth it?

Haha we took a V-sign photo before eating and basically demolished everything in about 20 minutes.. three menu items between two people was a bit much, but even after eating it all our stomachs didn't feel uncomfortable! They're running an event where you get a stamp each time you conquer a menu item, and if you clear every single one they give you a gift certificate haha. The food was so clean-tasting, and the owner was friendly too, so I'd definitely come back!!
