Mokdong gopchang restaurant with open glass-door patio seats: Omokgyo
In short
Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch is a grilled gopchang (beef intestine) restaurant in a Mokdong food alley in Yangcheon, Seoul, 223 meters from Exit 1 of Omokgyo Station on Line 5. The writer sat at a table by the opened glass door, which gives the retro storefront an outdoor-stall feel, and ate gopchang with a complimentary sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew) and bibim guksu (spicy cold noodles). The gopchang was full of fat and nutty with no off smell, and the wide, divided rooms make Omokgyo Gopchang a solid pick for a company dinner near Omokgyo Station.

I was looking for a Mokdong restaurant for a company dinner and ended up at Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch! As a gopchang (grilled beef intestine) lover, I can strongly recommend this place, haha.

Where Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch is and when it opens
The address is 226-13 Mokdong-dong-ro, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, South Korea, 1st floor, Omokgyo Gopchang, just 223m from Exit 1 of Omokgyo Station, Line 5. It's open weekends 12:10–22:40 and weekdays 16:00–22:40, both with last order at 22:00.

Being only 223m from Exit 1 of Omokgyo Station made this Mokdong gopchang restaurant super easy to find. It sits in the middle of a Mokdong food alley, so parking is available nearby too — good whether you walk over or drive.

Retro storefront and the open glass-door seats
This place is fun to look at even before you eat — the retro vibe makes it great for photos. The seating is roomy and divided into sections, plenty big enough for a company dinner, and comfortable to eat in.

The weather these days is perfect for outdoor dining, and one side has a glass door you can open, so you get that open-air feel while eating too.

Omokgyo Gopchang menu and prices
- Traditional handmade garlic gopchang (limited/signature) ₩28,900 — made with Seosan yukjjok garlic, one of the country's top three handmade whole-garlic gopchang dishes (limited to 20 servings a day)
- Hwangso gopchang, packed with fat and savory ₩27,900 — slaughtered and prepped the same day for an extra savory taste and chewy texture
- Rich special gopchang hot pot ₩48,000 — a spicy, hearty gopchang jeongol made with the restaurant's special dadaegi (chili paste) and bone broth

Free sundubu-jjigae arrives before the gopchang
What I liked most about this Mokdong gopchang restaurant is that they bring you this sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew) first when you order gopchang! It has a depth of flavor that rivals dedicated sundubu-jjigae spots, and it's so good alongside the gopchang.

Pickled onions, corn salad, and house-made scallion kimchi rounded out a generous spread alongside the gopchang. There were also two dipping sauces — a savory sesame oil sauce and a spicy sauce — so you could enjoy the meat different ways.

Heart, potatoes and bean sprouts on the same grill
The gopchang doesn't come alone — beef heart, potato, onion, chives, and bean sprouts all join in, giving you plenty to enjoy alongside the intestines. Eating gopchang on its own can feel slow, but having this much to chew on made it so much better.

On top of that, grilling their house-made scallion kimchi right there was the icing on the cake. But no matter how good the side dishes are, the most important thing is the quality of the gopchang itself!

How did the gopchang taste?
The gopchang at this Mokdong gopchang restaurant was packed with fat and had absolutely no smell — I ate it with total satisfaction.

Grilled golden brown on the outside, savory and chewy on the inside — the texture was spot on. The more I chewed, the more the savory flavor came through, and I kept reaching for more. It wasn't tough or greasy, just pleasantly clean, letting the gopchang's signature savoriness really shine.

Bibim guksu to finish the meal
After the gopchang, I was looking for something to end the meal cleanly and ordered bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles) — such a good call. The tangy-sweet sauce really perked up the palate and paired perfectly with the savory, rich gopchang. The sour and sweet balanced nicely, with a subtle spicy kick, and I kept going back for more. I'd definitely recommend it as a finishing dish after gopchang.

On the way out there was a receipt photo booth to commemorate the visit, plus various events to check out. This Omokgyo Gopchang main branch felt generous with both fun and flavor. 🩷
