Don't we all agonize over where to eat on weekends or special occasions? My partner and I always struggle to pick a menu too, but this time we both wanted all the sushi we could eat, so we headed to Kuu Kuu Nowon Junggye Branch, already well-known as one of the best sushi buffets in Nowon.

Why Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch suits family gatherings: the seating

The biggest reason I'd recommend Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch for a family meal in Nowon is the size and comfort of the space. The moment you walk in, you notice how open it feels, and the tables are spaced wide apart, which made it easy for my partner and me to chat comfortably while eating.

When we visited, the crowd was really varied — everything from big extended families to couples on a date.

Once you actually look at the food, you immediately get why Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch is synonymous with sushi buffets in Nowon. The variety of sushi is honestly enormous.

Beyond the basics like flounder, salmon, and tuna sushi, there's beef sushi, soy-marinated shrimp, and even egg sushi that kids love — the lineup is impressive. My partner and I especially fell for the rolls: we kept reaching for the cheese rolls and tempura rolls. The fish tasted fresh with no fishy flavor at all, and the rice portion was just right, making it easy to sample lots of different kinds.

It'd feel incomplete with just sushi, right? The variety of side dishes is exactly why Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch also works as a spot for Nowon get-togethers. From Chinese dishes like guobaorou (sweet and sour pork) and palbochae, to Western options like pizza and pasta, they really have it all. The meats grilled fresh to order looked especially good, juicy enough to pair well with a drink. My partner kept saying the meat quality was better than expected and went back for more again and again.

The salad corner and yogurt corner

The salad corner, which is great to eat between rounds, is also well stocked. Alongside fresh vegetables, there's yukhoe (beef tartare) salad and spicy jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles) to refresh your palate. I personally love the yogurt corner at Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch — you can pile on whatever toppings you like, which made a perfect palate cleanser before dessert. My partner also couldn't stop praising how fresh the salad was.

The nurungji-tang (scorched rice soup) was delicious too, and everything suited my taste so I ate well. For dessert there was also ice cream, fruit, tteok (rice cake), jelly, and a chocolate fountain — kids loved it.

Dessert at Kuu Kuu Nowon: fresh waffles and snow ice

I can't finish without talking about dessert. The fruit selection was full of seasonal picks like watermelon, pineapple, and orange, plus slice cakes, tteok, and Kuu Kuu's signature waffles — perfect all around. Freshly made waffles loaded with whipped cream and apple jam were pure happiness. Paired with a cup of Americano fresh from the coffee machine, there was no need to go to a café afterward. My partner made a snow ice dessert to round things off perfectly.

How fast is the food turnover, and how long is the wait?

Overall, I was happy with how quickly empty plates got refilled thanks to fast turnover. Staff cleared plates promptly too, so we could keep eating in a tidy setup. It's hard to find another restaurant in Nowon with this much quality and variety for the price.

When we finished and headed out, the entrance was packed with waiting guests. We went early, so we got to eat comfortably.

I think this place deserves the 2024 Excellent Brand Award. If you're looking for a sushi buffet in Nowon with roomy seats and great food, or thinking about where to take your partner or family for a relaxed weekend meal, Kuu Kuu Nowon Junggye Branch won't disappoint. Just remember to go in with an empty stomach!
