Daejeon all-you-can-eat eel restaurant, four eels for two: Songrimbok
In short
Songrimbok Jangeo Unlimited Eel Daejeon Direct Store is an all-you-can-eat freshwater eel restaurant in Jijok-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. Two adults paid 65,800 won including the table setting fee for unlimited freshwater eel, pork belly and duck neck from the self-bar, finished about four eels between them, and added spicy ramyeon at the end. Songrimbok looks like a second-floor spot from the east side of the map, but the parking lot entrance is only reachable from inside the alley.

Unlimited freshwater eel, and they throw in complimentary Sejong bokbunja (black raspberry) wine too! Here's my very satisfied review.

A long, long time ago I went to an all-you-can-eat eel place that turned out to be sea eel, and I was pretty disappointed,,, So when I saw that this spot in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon — Songrimbok Jangeo unlimited eel — was actually freshwater eel, I knew this was the one and headed over~
How to find Songrimbok and where to park in Jijok-dong
For Songrimbok Jangeo Unlimited Eel Daejeon Direct Store, you have to go down the alley on Jijokbuk-ro 66beon-gil to actually reach the parking lot. If you try to enter from the east side like the map suggests, the place looks like it's on the second floor — but you need to go into the alley to get into the parking lot. I ended up circling around once myself haha.

They cover 2 hours of parking, by the way~

The restaurant has wide sofa-style 4-seat tables as well as large group seating that can hold a whole crowd. Being a big Jijok-dong restaurant, Songrimbok has a separate spacious group section, so it seems perfect for a company dinner too!
Songrimbok menu and self-bar: 65,800 won for two

The time limit at Songrimbok is two hours, and I found out you can order takeout separately too.

Even with the table setting fee included, two adults came out to ₩65,800 — and for that you get unlimited freshwater eel plus meats. When you think about the price of eel per kilo, it's honestly kind of wild that this is possible..!

At first they bring out one plate with eel and meat, and after that you grab whatever you need from the self-bar yourself.

The self-bar was kept nice and clean too!
Free Sejong bokbunja wine and the first plate of eel
They brought out Sejong bokbunja wine, and when I asked, it seemed like this is given as a service to every table that visits!! Eel + bokbunja wine ,,,💫 such a thoughtful pairing to offer — I was already in a good mood before the eel even hit the grill haha.

Here's the first plate they brought out!

Basic side dishes: green onion kimchi and shredded ginger,

and perilla leaf kimchi, pickled onion, and washed kimchi came out too~
Getting into the mood right away with the bokbunja wine~~~~

How to grill the freshwater eel at Songrimbok, and how it tastes
Following the instructions, I put the eel on the grill skin-side down first.

Once the other side was grilled golden too,

I cut it up well and kept flipping it often so the inside cooks through.
Cutting into it, I could really feel it — the flesh was plump and firm, and you could tell the quality was good even for all-you-can-eat eel!!

We also grilled the pork belly and duck neck that came with it, but honestly, isn't Songrimbok in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon primarily an eel place lol. We mostly stuck to eel haha.

I was so hungry I couldn't resist and took a bite of the golden-grilled eel before it was even fully done, and it really was great quality…? We basically inhaled a whole plate and then

went straight for a refill lolllll

Eating it with the combo of perilla leaf kimchi + washed kimchi + shredded ginger and sauce, it never got old — we just kept inhaling it,,,

And I was worried whether eel would actually grill well on a plain plate rather than charcoal, but that worry was unnecessary lol. Kept piling the refilled eel on,,
The combo of ginger shreds + sauce, plus eel with a light sprinkle of salt🖤

Cutting and grilling at the same time… am I being too much of a pig… ha. Between the two of us we probably ate about four eels,, ha.

Finishing with spicy ramyeon (the eel soup was sold out)
Even full, I always need a carb dessert to finish, so I added a spicy ramyeon too,,, lol. I really wanted the thick eel soup, but it was sold out during my visit!!!! ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ It looked like it would've been great quality too, so I was so sad to miss it,,, guess I'm going back to Jijok-dong again…
They gave me the chewy noodle style ramyeon I love, and I polished off the remaining eel with it… lol. I was worried about the quality given it's all-you-can-eat eel, but I learned there was no need to worry at all — Songrimbok Jangeo, the unlimited freshwater eel restaurant in Jijok-dong, Daejeon!! It's a bit far, but for this price and this quality, there's more than enough reason to come — we had a happy meal chatting away the whole time😝
