Songdo, Pohang date restaurant for mushroom basil risotto: Plan A

Today I want to share a spot with great atmosphere in Pohang. It's a restaurant right in front of Songdo Beach — I went to Plan A, a well-known Pohang Songdo restaurant. Not only is the pasta and steak delicious, but you get to enjoy ocean views the whole meal, so it's really great as a date restaurant in Pohang too.

The 4th-floor ocean-view dining room over Songdo Beach

Plan A, a popular Pohang Songdo restaurant, sits right by the beach, so you can enjoy the ocean view along with your meal. It's on the 4th floor of the building, and the moment you walk in, the wide-open ocean view is really the charm of the place.

The interior had a cute yet comfortable atmosphere. Plan A offers a view of the wide-open Songdo sea, which has a different feel from Pohang's Yeongildae Beach, and it was a great place to have a relaxed meal.

I visited around lunchtime and there were quite a few customers. There were also some slightly more private seats toward the back.

Especially if you sit by the window, you get to enjoy the food along with a refreshing ocean view, which makes even an ordinary meal feel a bit more special.

Tablet ordering: three dishes for two at Plan A

Plan A serves a variety of Western dishes including pasta, risotto, pilaf, and steak, and ordering is done via a tablet installed at the table. We ordered generously — mushroom basil cream risotto, truffle aglio e olio, chop steak, and a cola.

After ordering, we were set up with side plates, cutlery, and pickles — the pickles could be conveniently refilled at the self-serve bar.

Three dishes ordered for two, haha. The food came out faster than I expected. The chop steak came in 120g or 240g options — since we'd already ordered pasta and risotto, we went with 120g, and the portion was just right!! If we'd gone with 240g, it would have been way too much, haha. For two people, I recommend the 120g!

Truffle aglio e olio

This is the truffle aglio e olio pasta. It looked appetizing just to look at, and a deep, luxurious truffle aroma quietly spread out from it.

With a clean oil base combined with garlic flavor and truffle aroma, this truffle aglio e olio pasta was light and enjoyable without feeling greasy.

Twirling it onto a fork, each bite filled my mouth with truffle aroma — a real charm point of this Pohang Songdo restaurant.

Our top pick: mushroom basil cream risotto

The mushroom basil cream risotto — this dish is completely my top pick!!! The savory, smooth cream sauce with basil aroma that wasn't overpowering, and a lightness that was really nice.

Especially eaten alongside the aglio e olio pasta, the two different flavors complemented each other really well and made the meal even more satisfying.

Is the 120g chop steak enough for two?

Since pasta and risotto alone felt like it wasn't quite enough, we also ordered the chop steak. The steak came sliced into easy-to-eat pieces, along with french fries and salad — a hearty plate.

The chop steak had a sweet yet savory sauce well soaked into the meat, so I kept reaching for more. On top of that, the texture was tender rather than chewy, making it a great side dish to eat in between bites of the pasta and risotto. I'd recommend this dish for anyone who loves meat and wants a filling meal :)
