We're serious about hanwoo

Hanwoo near Doan Lake Park: Worang Myeongga Daejeon Doan Branch
Hi everyone, it's Jjinyu with today's real find ☺️ If you're looking for restaurant recommendations near Doan Lake Park, save this one first!
Ever want hanwoo (Korean beef) but hesitate a bit over the price? That's exactly where Worang Myeongga Daejeon Doan Branch comes in. It's a butcher-style restaurant, so you get to see and pick your own cut, which is already fun. Plus the place is spacious and comfortable, making it a great fit for family meals, group gatherings, and work dinners alike.

What about parking and location?
For anyone driving, there's both surface and underground parking. The underground lot is free for 3 hours, so you can eat at ease without stressing over your car. When you're visiting with a big group for a family meal or a work dinner, easy parking makes a real difference.
The location is easy to reach from Doan-dong and Gasuwon-dong, and being near Gapcheon Ecological Lake Park, it's a solid stop before or after a walk around Doan Lake Park. Stroll the park, then have great hanwoo — not a bad combo, right?

17 private rooms, group seating for up to 200
Another strong point of Worang Myeongga Daejeon Doan Branch is the private room setup. With 17 private rooms, you can eat comfortably without worrying about other tables around you — great for family meals, dinners with parents, family gatherings, or even a cozier date or anniversary dinner. On top of that, the spacious hall seats up to 200 people, so it also works well for work dinners, group meetups, and various events.
Picking your own cut at the butcher counter
Now for the main event: Worang Myeongga's hanwoo 🥩 Since it's a butcher-style restaurant, you can check the freshness and quality of the raw meat yourself and pick your own cut — there's something genuinely fun about choosing exactly what you're going to eat. They mainly stock top-grade 1++ hanwoo, so you get great quality at a fairly reasonable price.
You can choose from cuts like kkotdeungsim (marbled ribeye), galbisal (rib finger meat), raw ribs, tenderloin, salchisal (chuck flap), bucheotsal (top blade), and anchangsal (skirt steak), depending on your taste. If you want to try several cuts at once, the house mix, special mix, or premium mix platters are also a great choice!

Are there non-grilled menu items too?
Yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) and yuk-sashimi are also available if you want to try hanwoo a different way, and a lot of people order the special seasoned beef tripe and intestines, made with the owner's own house sauce.
The meal menu was pretty solid too 👀 There's a wide range including galbitang (short rib soup), abalone galbitang, eolgari galbitang, hanwoo gukbap (beef rice soup), hanwoo hot pot bulgogi, hanwoo yukhoe bibimbap, and hanwoo stone-pot bibimbap — so it's a fine stop even if you're not there for grilled meat. Worth recommending as a place to eat near Doan Lake Park, right?
₩4,000 per-person table setting fee — what's included?
To really enjoy hanwoo, the side dishes matter almost as much as the meat. Worang Myeongga Daejeon Doan Branch charges a ₩4,000 per-person table setting fee. At first I thought, huh, a separate fee — but once the dishes started coming out one by one, it made total sense.

From yuk-sashimi that pairs perfectly with hanwoo, to seasoned crab, steamed egg, salad, myeongi namul (wild garlic leaves), baek-kimchi (white kimchi), japchae, geotjeori, and various namul — the table filled up with a really wide spread!
It wasn't just a handful of basic side dishes; there was so much to pair with the meat between bites that the ₩4,000 fee never felt like a waste.

Beyond the standard table setting, you could grab extra ssam vegetables yourself from the self-serve bar. And after the meal, fresh fruit for dessert was ready too, for a clean finish 🤍

Charcoal-grilled salchisal
I picked out a well-marbled cut of salchisal (chuck flap) at the meat counter. Salchisal is a special cut from near the sirloin — specifically between the upper sirloin and neck — and since only a small amount comes from each cow, it's classified as a specialty cut. Expecting the tender texture and rich beefy aroma this cut is known for, straight to the grill it went!
I laid the salchisal I'd picked myself onto the charcoal grill 🔥 Good hanwoo really doesn't need much fuss — grilling it simply over charcoal is still the best way to enjoy it.

Salchisal is densely marbled, so grilling it over charcoal really brought out the juiciness and savory flavor. Browned on the outside and left moist inside, one bite was tender with a deep beefy aroma spreading through!

Free injeolmi snow ice for a receipt review
And a surprise perk I found out about after the meal! Write a receipt review and you get a free injeolmi (rice cake) snow ice dessert 🍧 A hanwoo restaurant offering shaved ice felt random at first, but it turns out the owner also runs a Sulbing shop, which explains the solid dessert quality.
After eating meat until full, finishing off with a sweet, cool injeolmi snow ice was the perfect way to wrap up dessert too! Coming for hanwoo and leaving with shaved ice as a bonus — this combo was quietly satisfying. If you're looking for a family meal or date spot near Doan Lake Park, this little event is worth keeping in mind ☺️
