A weekend family lunch for four at Menji Hanam Misa Branch
My husband and I took our two kids to Menji Hanam Misa Branch this weekend for ramen and tonkatsu. We'd been out at Misari and on the way home the kids got hungry — what should we eat? My husband wanted ramen, the kids wanted tonkatsu, so I thought of Menji, the ramen spot everyone raves about in Hanam Misa. It turned out to be great for eating with a baby too, and best of all the food was tasty for the kids and satisfying for us as well!!

Where Menji Hanam Misa is, parking and the weekend lunch wait
This Hanam Misa ramen spot Menji sits right next to Easy White bread café. You can park in front of the restaurant. We visited during weekend lunch hours and there were already quite a few customers, so we ended up waiting haha. It's not a huge dining space — more of a small, cozy Japanese ramen shop vibe.

Inside Menji: the feel of a back-alley ramen shop in Japan
The moment we stepped in, it felt like we were back traveling in Japan. Like walking into a tiny ramen shop tucked in a Japanese alley!?
Overall it was clean and tidy,

and since it's an open kitchen, we could watch the food being made. I could see the staff quietly and passionately cooking away.

Even in the evening it's packed — this Hanam ramen restaurant Menji is always popular.

Two Menji sets, 33,000 won for a family of four
We ordered the house-made ramen with mini pork loin tonkatsu set and the house-made pork loin tonkatsu with mini ramen set. Each was ₩16,500.

A family-of-four meal out for ₩33,000 — incredible value. And the portions were generous too..!!

There's even a little guide on how to best enjoy the ramen and tonkatsu.

If you love tonkatsu, I highly recommend this house pork loin tonkatsu + mini ramen set combo!! You get to try a half-size chicken broth ramen too, which is great.
They even gave us baby dishes!!

The pork loin tonkatsu and yuzu salad at Menji
Menji's tonkatsu is apparently made with domestic Korean pork loin. That's probably why the meat was so tender with no gamey smell! They say it's fried gently at low temperature in the traditional Japanese way.

The yuzu-scented salad that came alongside was sweet and refreshing too — perfect for cutting through the richness while eating tonkatsu. The house-made sous vide pork shoulder char siu was also tender and delicious.

How were Menji's tori paitan ramen noodles and broth?
The ramen noodles were wonderfully chewy and nutty! Menji's noodles are apparently self-made, aged fresh noodles. They press each batch by hand using healthy whole wheat flour!! Brown whole wheat!

I'd had the tori paitan ramen before, and it was just as good this time. The noodles pair perfectly with the rich chicken broth. One bite and you keep going back for more. Mixing in the egg yolk makes it even richer and nuttier.

The broth was rich yet clean. Usually a
rich ramen broth can feel greasy or over-seasoned with MSG, but this was surprisingly clean and delicious.

It has a rich, milky-white color. I heard the base is made with char siu, salt, and soy sauce with various dried fish added, plus a tare sauce aged for more than five days. The broth at this Misa restaurant Menji is so good it keeps popping into my head. If we didn't have the kids with us, I'd love to try the spicy version haha.

They say the chicken is simmered for a long time, which is why there's no gamey smell.

Is Menji Hanam Misa easy to visit with young kids?
I mixed rice into my kid's ramen broth and they happily ate both the broth and the rice!!

The kids ate way better than I expected.

If you're looking for a Hanam Misa restaurant, a Hanam Misa ramen restaurant, or just missing the ramen you had while traveling in Japan, you have to try Menji Hanam Misa Branch!!!

We were very satisfied eating delicious ramen and tonkatsu together with the kids^^

The kids happily finished their tonkatsu while my husband and I enjoyed the rich, nutty tori paitan ramen ^^ It's such a small, cozy Japanese restaurant that at first I wondered if it'd be okay to bring kids, but they had a baby chair and baby dishes ready and the staff were kind, so we ate comfortably!!
