Today I want to introduce a charcoal-scented pork galbi restaurant I found while looking for a good meat place in Soha-dong: Sodam Galbi Gwangmyeong Soha Branch! It's near Gwangmyeong Cave, so if you're looking for a place to eat after exploring Gwangmyeong, this could be a great option. Especially if you're after pork galbi grilled over real charcoal in Soha-dong, this is the spot I'd recommend.

Where is Sodam Galbi Gwangmyeong Soha Branch, and when is it open?

It's the kind of Soha-dong meat restaurant with a relaxed vibe, good for a family meal or a casual grilled-meat night. The building's parking was well set up too, so I could visit without worrying about parking!

Is Sodam Galbi good for groups and kids?
Sodam Galbi Gwangmyeong Soha Branch can seat up to 80 people and has baby chairs ready. It seemed like a good size not just for family meals but also for company dinners or group gatherings, and it looked comfortable for visiting with kids too!

Unlimited tteokbokki refills at the self-bar
Sodam Galbi's self-bar had lettuce wraps, pickled onions, and other things that go well with grilled meat, all ready to go. Kids' tableware was also on hand, so it was easy to just grab whatever you needed.
And the self-bar has unlimited tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) refills! This is a dream menu not just for those visiting with kids, but for tteokbokki lovers like me too 😊

What's on the menu at Sodam Galbi
Looking at the menu, they had handmade marinated galbi, fresh Korean pork galbi, fresh pork belly and other grilled options, plus a lunch special and full meal/dessert items. True to a proper Soha-dong meat restaurant, the range of choices was great for family meals or group dinners. They're also running a receipt review event where you get a free steamed egg for writing a review.

Side dishes, onions and two plates of tteokbokki
The table was set with a generous spread of side dishes from the start! Salad, sundubu (soft tofu), scallion salad, and even a homestyle side dish made it easy to snack while waiting for the meat.

They gave us a generous helping of onions right from the start — so good..! Onions are a must with galbi, right, haha. Dipping plenty of onion in the vegetable sauce and eating it with the galbi is just perfect.

I also brought over a plate of tteokbokki from the self-bar! It was exactly the street-food-stall style tteokbokki I love, so much so that I ended up refilling it twice 🤤🤤 I devoured the tteokbokki before the meat even arrived~!

Grilling two servings of handmade Korean pork marinated galbi over charcoal
Finally, the main event! They put two servings of handmade Korean pork marinated galbi on the grill. The moment it hit the charcoal, that delicious smell started wafting up 🤤🤤 I really was glad I came looking for pork galbi in Soha-dong, haha.

They kept flipping it diligently so it wouldn't burn! Galbi soaked in marinade, grilled over charcoal — this really felt like proper meat-eating at a Soha-dong restaurant, haha. They checked on the grill periodically and swapped it out right away whenever needed, so it was an easy, hassle-free meal.

I picked up a piece of the nicely browned galbi, and the texture was so tender~~ Eating it together with the onion strips marinated in the sweet-and-sour vegetable sauce was such a great combination!

Marinated galbi with bibim naengmyeon
You can't skip naengmyeon (cold noodles) when eating meat. We ordered the spicy-tangy bibim naengmyeon to go with it! This Soha-dong meat restaurant, found while searching for good food near Gwangmyeong Cave, let us enjoy everything from meat to a full meal course :)

They added a bit of icy cold broth to the bibim naengmyeon! I was torn between mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) and bibim naengmyeon, went with bibim, and with the icy broth added it turned out tangy and refreshing — I was glad I picked bibim, haha.
And of course this combo is irresistible~~ Wrapping a piece of galbi into the spicy bibim naengmyeon and taking a bite! The sweet marinated galbi with the tangy-spicy noodles cleansed the palate, and I kept going back for more.

Adding one serving of fresh pork belly
It felt like a waste to only eat marinated galbi, so we added a serving of fresh pork belly too. True to a proper meat restaurant, the variety of grilled options was great, making it easy to pick and choose at this Soha-dong meat spot!

The pork belly also got grilled to a nice golden brown over the charcoal! The charcoal-scented pork belly was truly delicious. Even though I was already full, it was so good I kept reaching for more.

Finishing with doenjang jjigae and self-bar coffee
I also ordered a doenjang jjigae for dessert, and it was great with big chunks of tofu packed in! Eating warm doenjang jjigae after the meat made for a really satisfying finish~!

After the meal, I cleansed the palate with coffee from the self-bar. With such a thorough dessert lineup too, I'd recommend Sodam Galbi to anyone looking for a good meat restaurant in Soha-dong!

Taking home Sodam Galbi's handmade marinated galbi
On my way out after a great meal, I snapped a photo of the takeout galbi sold at the counter. You can take home the handmade marinated galbi from this Soha-dong restaurant packed for 4 or 7 servings, great for eating at home or bringing along on a camping trip!
Overall, this was a Soha-dong restaurant, Sodam Galbi, where I got to fully enjoy everything from meat to a full meal and dessert :) A solid spot to visit for a meal after a trip to Gwangmyeong Cave, or for a family dinner or company gathering! If you're looking for a meat restaurant in Soha-dong, a pork galbi spot in Gwangmyeong, or a good restaurant near Gwangmyeong Cave, give this one a look, haha.
