Jjambbong Jijon's Jung-dong branch sits noticeably along the road between Sinjung-dong Station and Bucheon City Hall Station on Line 7, right where Bucheon Jung-dong's main commercial strip meets the residential area.

Coming out of Sinjung-dong Station and walking a short way along the busy pedestrian path, you'll find it easily. And parking right across the street at the public lot gets you free parking, so it's convenient even if you drive.

What the dining room is like for a family meal

Sinjung-dong's favorite Jjambbong Jijon! I've been to several of their branches, but the Sinjung-dong location is really clean and just about the perfect atmosphere for a family meal!!

None of that greasy smell or slippery floor you often get at typical Chinese restaurants — the floors, walls, even the tabletops were all polished to a shine, giving me a real sense of trust in the hygiene from the moment I walked in. Chinese food really does taste best eaten in the dining room, doesn't it!!

If I had to say why my family loves Jjambbong Jijon, it's this generous self-bar spirit! The rice cooker is packed full, and you can keep coming back for as much as you want. Jjajangmyeon or jjamppong both taste even better once you mix or dip rice into them, and being able to grab extra rice without any additional charge is such a plus.

Most Chinese restaurants charge extra for a bowl of rice, but here you just lift the rice cooker lid and scoop out as much freshly steamed, fluffy rice as you like without worrying about it — genuinely the best perk for big eaters or Koreans who absolutely need to dip rice in their soup.

As an N-year regular of Jjambbong Jijon, here's my recommended move: order the jjamppong, and later add on soft tofu :) That way you can put the soft tofu into the leftover broth and enjoy it as jjamppong soft tofu — totally different from the noodles, but just as amazing!!!

How does the 7,000 won jjajangmyeon taste?

Jjajangmyeon, the kids' favorite!!! ₩7,000 a bowl is already a great price, but the jjajangmyeon at Sinjung-dong Station favorite Jjambbong Jijon tastes great too!! Excellent!!!

I tried the glossy, appetizing-looking jjajangmyeon first. Freshly boiled, chewy noodles were topped generously with a rich, dark reddish-brown sauce made from deeply stir-fried chunjang (black bean paste), and green peas on top added a neat finishing touch.

The textbook definition of crispy-outside, tender-inside — Jjambbong Jijon's tangsuyuk!!!

Next up was the sticky rice tangsuyuk, the noodle dish's reliable sidekick. Thick pieces fried in clean, fresh oil were piled up generously on the plate, with a clear sweet-and-sour sauce and plenty of thinly sliced fresh raw onion alongside.

It reminded me of gwabaroujjeu style pork — the chewy batter was packed with thick, pale pork loin meat, no gamey smell at all, and juicy enough that it pulled apart tender along the grain instead of being dry. After the jjamppong and the soft tofu add-on, this made for such a full, satisfying meal!!

Right around when I finished the jjamppong noodles, I used my secret trick and ordered a soft tofu add-on to drop into the broth. Into the still piping-hot red jjamppong broth went the soft, wobbly tofu, and after breaking it up into big chunks with a spoon, it instantly transformed into a top-tier soft tofu jjamppong stew. Adding a little rice into this makes for a truly hearty and perfect meal.

After cleaning every plate and bowl, my stomach was ready to burst, but I still walked over to the self-serve drink counter for a refreshing blue lemon ade and a warm Americano to finish things off.

The tangy drink and fragrant coffee cleaned up my mouth nicely after the rich, spicy meal, so there was no need to head to a separate dessert café — the meal felt complete. Jjambbong Jijon's Bucheon Sinjung-dong branch also accepts Bucheon Pay!
