I arrived around noon on a weekend and parked with no trouble, but by the time we finished eating around 1pm the lot was full (there was even a wait for spots) — proof of how popular this place is.

Inside Haenon Miyeok: is there room for a stroller?

Walking in felt like stepping into a contemporary art museum. As a restaurant known for family gatherings in Munwon-dong, Gwacheon, it had a clean, tidy atmosphere perfect for a family meal.

The tables were spaced generously, so you could eat comfortably without feeling cramped. The interior gives off a upscale, sophisticated feel.

Because the space was so roomy, I was able to park the stroller right beside the table. Having enough room for a stroller matters a lot when you're out with a kid, and this place had plenty of it.

The self-serve banchan (side dish) corner was neatly set up too — I thought parents would really appreciate this if you bring them along. The banchan were clean and tidy, the kind of taste parents enjoy. Probably why there were so many guests who looked like they were there for a family gathering (likely birthday parties).

Apparently there's also an abalone service for pregnant guests and people celebrating birthdays 😆

Scallop seaweed soup set vs beef seaweed soup set

Haenon Miyeok is a restaurant specializing in the original nourishing dish, seaweed soup sets. True to its name as a Gwacheon seaweed soup specialist, there's a wide variety of seaweed soups on the menu.

My son loves shellfish, so we ordered the scallop seaweed soup set and the beef seaweed soup set.

The banchan came out looking neat too. There were dishes good for eating with a kid, so it was easy to feed my child. Being a well-known Gwacheon seaweed soup specialist, there were quite a few other guests with kids too. Seaweed soup for families raising kids is truly,, love 💘

The seasoned grilled fish was delicious 🥰

They also gave us 2 pieces of fried shrimp as a service, and my kid ate them up (ate them all by himself).

Our seaweed soups arrived. The portion was bigger than expected — I was surprised!

Kids' rice: unlimited refills for an extra 2,000 won

Rice comes with unlimited refills. But if you have a child aged 7 or under, they charge an extra fee (₩2,000) for unlimited refills! We paid the ₩2,000 for our kid's rice and refilled twice more~

Both the beef seaweed soup and scallop seaweed soup were packed with ingredients. The seaweed soup had a savory, clean taste! Mixing it into the rice really filled us up.

While we were eating happily, my second kid sitting next to us pretended to eat too? — so funny haha. There's a baby chair available too, just ask and they'll bring it. The owner and staff were all so kind ☺️ They looked busy with all the customers but stayed kind, which somehow made the food taste even better.

They also sell nurungji (scorched rice) chips, which would make a good snack to buy before heading to Seoul Land in Gwacheon 🤎

We had a great visit to Haenon Miyeok, a Korean restaurant in Gwacheon. It was easy to go with our kid without any worry, and we got to feed our child a filling meal — a great lunch overall!

Seaweed soup has a symbolic meaning as a birthday dish, so a lot of families were there celebrating parents' birthdays! If I lived in Gwacheon, I think I'd bring my own parents here too.
