Namyangju riverside café date with annex window seats: MR

My partner and I went on a date toward Namyangju and wanted to grab brunch and relax slowly, so we visited MR.

It's a Namyangju brunch café right in front of the Bukhan River, and it's less a grab-and-go food stop than a place where you enjoy wandering through the space itself. Maybe because I came with my partner that day, it felt more relaxed than usual, and I really felt like choosing it as our date spot was the right call :)

Sharing a burger and a pasta for two at MR

At MR we ordered a burger with fries, pasta, and a drink each. When everything came out at once, the table got pretty full.

We meant to just snap photos and eat quickly, but the plating looked so nice that we ended up taking pictures for a while haha. The burger came with a generous side of fries and plenty of sauce, so it felt filling enough as a full meal on its own. The pasta also had plenty of sauce and paired well as a shared dish with the burger. Ordering different things and sharing them was more satisfying than just having one dish each.

What is the main building of MR like inside?

Looking around while eating, the interior of MR's main building was also right up my alley. It's mostly white-toned with plants and posters placed here and there, so it doesn't feel overly decorated, but photos come out surprisingly pretty.

The tables weren't cramped, and each area had a slightly different mood, so it was fun looking around with my partner deciding where to sit.

On one side there was a photo zone with cute little props gathered together. MR is pet-friendly, so it's also a good option for anyone looking for a dog-friendly café in Namyangju. You could actually feel touches throughout the store made with pet-accompanying guests in mind.

Stepping outside, there were cats wandering around too. These unexpected moments end up sticking in my memory even more when I'm out at a café with my partner. We both stopped in our tracks to watch the cats for a bit, and it matched the relaxed, out-of-town café vibe really well.

MR is located at 1602-22 Bukhan-gangno, Hwado-eup, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do. It's a good spot to stop by while driving along the Bukhan River, and there's parking space in front of the store.

Current hours are Wednesday to Sunday, 11:00–19:00, with Mondays and Tuesdays listed as regular days off.

Why the MR annex is the best place to linger

What I personally liked most was the annex building at the back of MR. After eating at the main building, my partner and I went to check out the annex, and when we walked in there was no one else there at all.

Thanks to that, the two of us sat quietly and rested for a while before leaving. At crowded cafés you tend to get up and go right after eating, but this space itself was so quiet that just sitting and doing nothing for a bit felt way better than expected. Being there with just my partner meant there was no need to rush, so we could sit and talk at our own pace — it ended up being my favorite part of the day.

Heading toward the window side of the annex, you get a wide-open view of the Bukhan River. There are seats right in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, and on a nice day it seemed like it would be great to just sit and look out.

The brunch was good, but spending relaxed time with my partner in a space like this brought my overall satisfaction even higher. It was a place where I really felt glad we came together :)

The annex has a different feel from the main building. With bright white tones mixed with wood tables and lighting, it felt a bit calmer. The glass room in the middle and the small props by the window were also nice to look at, so there was fun in browsing around. Maybe because we visited during a time with no one else around, it was really great for resting quietly with my partner.

When is the best day to visit MR?

If you're looking for somewhere in Namyangju that's more than just a meal — brunch, a river view, and a slow date — MR fits well. It's especially the kind of place that comes to mind again when you're driving around together and want something good to eat, plus a quiet space to rest for a bit.

Coming with my partner this time, the food and space were nice, but what stuck with me more was the relaxed time we spent together :)
