Kalguksu near Dongtan Jureongjureong with a 4-year-old: Deungchon

After playing hard with my kid at Dongtan Jureongjureong, I looked for a lunch spot near Dongtan Lake Park close by and ended up at Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Gran Passage Branch!

You get to eat warm broth with vegetables, and finish it off with hearty noodles and fried rice — it worked really well as a family meal.

The restaurant is right inside Gran Passage, so it's a super convenient stop for anyone looking for a restaurant near Dongtan Jureongjureong, and easy to move around with a kid too :)

Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Gran Passage Branch is located on the 2nd floor, units 2004–2005 of the Gran Passage Green Zone. The building sits right in front of Dongtan Lake Park, so it's a great spot to grab a meal after spending time around the area.

It's easier to find if you head to the 2nd floor Green Zone of the building with CGV. It's an easy move after using Dongtan Jureongjureong too, so if you're figuring out a restaurant near Dongtan Jureongjureong, it's easy to pair the two together.

How many hours of free parking at Gran Passage?

Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Gran Passage Branch uses the building's basement parking on B1 and B2, and you get up to 3 hours free. When I go out with my kid, parking matters just as much as the food.

Since we were with our kid, we chose the clear mushroom kalguksu and added beef.

When you go to a restaurant with a kid, the atmosphere and service matter just as much as taste. Kids need extra hands unexpectedly sometimes, and the owner was kind and attentive, so we could eat comfortably.

The clear mushroom kalguksu we picked wasn't a heavy or strong broth, so it was a good choice with a kid along. The warm, savory bone broth with mushrooms and minari (water dropwort) made the broth itself really nice to drink.

Adding beef and cooking it together made the meal so much more filling! True to a restaurant near Dongtan Lake Park, the kimchi side dish was really tasty too :)

The fried rice finish my 4-year-old cleared

When I come for shabu kalguksu, the finishing fried rice is honestly one of the moments I look forward to most. Even after having plenty of mushrooms, minari, meat and noodles, somehow there's still room for the fried rice.

Eating the warm fried rice felt like a proper way to end the meal! Going through shabu-shabu, then noodles, then fried rice in order made the whole process satisfying even with just one menu ordered — a great lunch near Dongtan Lake Park. My 4-year-old ate the kalguksu happily and finished the fried rice too!

A day plan: Jureongjureong, lunch at Deungchon, then Dongtan Lake Park

If you're visiting Dongtan Jureongjureong, I'd recommend playing hard with your kid, having lunch at Deungchon Shabu Kalguksu Gran Passage Branch, and then heading over to Dongtan Lake Park if you have time left!

Having up to 3 hours of parking meant we weren't pressured to eat and move the car right away, which was very satisfying. If you're looking for a Korean menu near Dongtan Lake Park that the whole family can enjoy comfortably, I'd recommend the shabu kalguksu :)
